Was she dead?

Todd and Elizabeth were speeding down the road on his motorcycle. Elizabeth's hair was whipping around her face, but she didn't care. "This is so cool, Todd," Elizabeth yelled into the wind.
"I knew you'd like it," he shouted back, turning his head slightly so that she could hear him. "Hold on."
Todd speeded up, and the ride became even more exciting. Elizabeth breathed deeply. Gripping the body of the bike with her knees, she threw her hands up in the air and screamed joyfully.
Suddenly, an old pickup truck emerged out of nowhere. The truck was careening from side to side, crossing the two lane road as if the driver were completely unaware of trafic laws.
"Todd, look out!" Elizabeth shouted, feeling her heart jump to her throat.
Almost in slow motion, the motorcycle hit a huge pothole. Elizabeth lost her grip on Todd and the bike. She was thrown several feet in the air, her screams echoing through the canyan.
"Liz!" he screamed, feeling the air leave his lungs.
Everything started to go black as Todd pulled off his helmet and tried to make his way to Elizabeth. His beloved girlfriend lay in a heap, covered in dirt and blood. Was she dead?
