Here is a photo taken after the Blizzard of 1938 of Robert McElhone's furniture store on Water Street in Torrington, CT. The store was sold to Thomas Amoroso upon Robert's retirement, and until late in 1998 or early 1999 both names, Amoroso and McElhone, appeared in large white lettering on the side of the building (see photo below).
Here is a photo I took in 1998, just before the "Amoroso McElhone Furniture" sign was removed and replaced with a sign for Polly's Dream, a thrift shop.
