2001 Whittemore Speedway Pro 4 Rules

 

Owners and drivers, YOU are responsible for the actions of each member of your pit crew (this includes family members)

 

All cars must have a full body, doors, hoods, etc., at the beginning of each race.

 

Appearance

All cars must be completely and neatly painted. A 12” number, of contrasting color must appear above both doors of car visible to timing tower.

Note: All cars must have a 6” x 1” white number located on upper right corner of the windshield.

 

Battery

One (1) only, located out of the drivers compartment and securely mounted in a 1/8” steel box. Battery disconnect mandatory, must be within easy reach of track officials.

 

Body

Sedan type bodies, station wagons, and pick-ups only. No convertibles, utility vehicles, 4 wheel drives, or 2 seat sports cars. Body does not have to remain stock, but must be stock appearing. You must have bumpers and complete sheet metal. No tube frame chassis. Aluminum fenders, hoods, doors, etc. Are allowed to meet weight rule. Aftermarket nosepieces are allowed. 4” spoilers are allowed on rear of car only. No wings. Bumpers and rub bars bust be securely fastened and tied into the body, so not to hook or shear other competitors. Body must remain at least 4” off the ground. (See ride height). Interior must be stripped. All doors must be welded, chained or bolted shut. All glass except windshield must be removed. Lexan windshield recommended. Three 3/8” solid steel struts directly in front of the driver are mandatory.

 

Brakes

Factory stock four (4) wheel hydraulic – all in good working order.

 

Coolant

Water is the only coolant allowed.

 

Drive Shaft

Must be painted white and have front and rear hoops. No chains. Two steel drive shaft hoops mandatory.

 

Engine

Factory stock engine and components only. Engine must be located in stock location – solid mounts allowed. No fuel injected, turbo charged, rotary type or marine engines allowed. Headers are allowed. (2 ½” ID exhaust max at exit) No roller camshafts allowed. Any hydraulic or mechanical camshaft allowed. Compression ratio not to exceed 11.5 to 1. Open-air breathers are allowed. Any 500cfm carb or 4412 Holly carburetor unaltered except for removal of choke shaft and butterfly. A maximum 1” adapter place. No aluminum heads allowed. Valves may not exceed 1.89 intake and 1.59 exhaust. Porting is allowed. Any ignition system allowed. No aftermarket intakes allowed, factory stock only. Power pulleys and adjustable cam sprockets allowed. Aftermarket rods and pistons are allowed. 151 cubic inch maximum. Open-air cleaners allowed (4” x 14” max)

 

Fire Extinguisher

All cars must be equipped with a working, securely mounted (minimum 3lb) ABC type extinguisher within easy reach of driver and track personnel.

 

Fire suits

Mandatory and in good/safe condition.

 

Fuel

Pump gas only. No additives are allowed.

 

Fuel System

All cars must have fuel cell securely mounted. A firewall must separate trunk from drivers compartment. No fuel lines may pass through the driver’s compartment. No electric fuel pumps are allowed.

 

Helmet

Mandatory. Must be Snell 95 approved and in good/safe condition.

 

Inspection

Tech inspectors have the right to inspect any part of competitor’s vehicle to insure compliance with any rule.

 

Mirrors

Not allowed!

 

Mufflers

Mandatory to meet 100-decibel limit.

 

Neck Brace

An approved neck brace must be worn.

 

Radiator

Must be in stock location and must not alter sheet metal of body. A one (1) gallon plastic catch can must be used for overflow and mounted on right side of firewall in engine compartment. Any reinforcement to protect radiator must be located behind grille. Any radiator allowed.

 

Ride Height

5 1/2 “ minimum measured at the rear trailing arm where it mounts to the unibody

 

Roll Cage

All cars must have a minimum six (6) point roll cage of minimum 1 ¾” round .095 wall thickness welded to the frame. If car does not have a frame, a steel 6”x6”x1/8” or larger plate must be bolted to the body and the roll cage must be welded to the steel plate.

 

Seat

Aluminum racing seat mandatory. Must be securely fastened to body and roll cage.

 

Seat Belts

Mandatory. Five (5)-point minimum. Quick release lap belt securely mounted to roll cage or frame. Must be coded and dated, 5-year maximum, subject to tech inspection.

 

Shocks

Stock Shocks only. No “made for racing” shocks.

 

Suspension

Must be stock in stock location. Adjustable spring spacers allowed. No screw jacks. Struts may be notched for camber and caster adjustments.

 

Tires

Hoosier Sportsman Tires 27.0/8.0 15, 26.5/8.0 15, 27.0/8.0 13 & 26.5/8.0/13 (any combination)

 

Tow Hooks

Mandatory front and rear. Must be at least 5/16” chain only. Subject to tech inspection

 

Transmission

Stock only. Made for racing clutches and flywheels allowed. No shaved grenades. Bell housing shields mandatory. A 4” x 4” inspection hole is mandatory.

 

Weight

Minimum 2300# with driver. 55% left side maximum.

 

Wheels

Steel eight (8”) wide maximum made for racing wheels. Any backspace allowed. No aluminum, mag, homemade or drilled wheels allowed. Wheel studs must be ½” minimum with 1 inch minimum hex lug nut.

 

Window Nets

Mandatory and securely in place in all events. Must be approved

 

Engine Claimer Rule

 

You can only claim two engines per year. The claimed engine must be run the next race night by the claimer. Any engine may be claimed for $300 cash US funds plus claimers unaltered engine. Engine must be an exact, bolt in replacement for the engine being claimed. Claimer must be the driver or owner of a car competing in the same event.

Note: The top 5 in current point standings (as of date of race) are not allowed to claim.

To Claim: No claims allowed one week prior to mid-season and season championship nights. The driver or owner must present $300 cash US funds plus his/her complete, long block engine (this does not include exhaust, carb and intake, power pulleys or ignition components) to the track Tech Inspector within 5 minutes of completion of feature event, and must have finished within 4 positions and on the same lap of engine being claimed. Upon claim to inspector, Inspector will check claimers engine to determine if engine is in fact in good/sound running condition. If found to be in sound running condition, Inspector will present claim to claimant.

Note: Tech inspector may deny claim if he feels claimers engine is not in good/sound running condition.

If claimant refuses claim, he/she will be immediately disqualified from that evenings events, lose all winnings for that evening, lose accumulated points to date and be barred for 2 consecutive weeks of racing.

Special Note: Anyone refusing to sell engine on two occasions will be disqualified for the season and lose all accumulated season points. There is no back out once claim money has been presented to Tech Inspector and claim is approved. In the event the claim is not approved, money will be returned to claimer.

 

ANY INTERPRETATION OR DEVIATION OF THESE RULES IS LEFT TO THE DISCRETION OF THE TRACK OFFICIALS.
