Addams Family
1991
Stars: Raul Julia, Anjelica Huston, Christopher Llyod, Christina Ricci, Jimmy Workman.
Director: Barry Sonnenfeld.
Plot: Based on the zany '60's show, The Addams Family is a movie about a weird and peculiar family who discovers what they think is the husband's long lost brother. Raul Julia portrays Gomez Addams, and Anjelica Huston plays opposite him as his wife Morticia. One night Abigail Craven (Elizabeth Wilson) comes to their house claiming that Christopher Llyod is Gomez's brother Uncle Fester. He's really working for Abigail to try and rip off the Addams. There are also two kids in the family. Wednesday, the girl, who enjoys electrocuting his brother, is suspicious about the two. The son,Pugsley, isn't too sure but just goes along with it. The family also has a maid Lurch who doesn't say much, but when he does, he talks in a funny voice. They also have a alive and movable hand named Thing that crawls around the house.
My Thoughts: Though some may find this movie a little too weird for them, I really enjoyed it and thought that all the characters were really funny and unique. Christina Ricci does a great job playing Wednesday who always looks as though she's planning on killer someone, which she might well be thinking. Julia and Huston fit perfectly as the strange but loving couple, they have weird hobbies such as Morticia, who trims off flowers and puts the stem in a vase. Gomez also enjoys playing chess with his small friend Thing. I thought this movie had some very good moments and was overall well made.Though some may not like the dark humor, I'd recommend this if you were looking for a strange and different movie.
