Alien 3
1992
Stars: Sigourney Weaver, Charles Dutton,Paul McGann, Brian Glover, Charles Dance, Lance Henriksen,Pete Postlethwaite.
Director: David Fincher.
Plot:
Somehow, Ellen Ripley(Sigourney Weaver), Newt, and Bishop(Lance Henriksen) from the second movie survive, but their ship crashes on the planet Fury 161 and kills Bishop and Newt. This happens to be a prison planet and a correctional facility. Once again, the aliens manage to attack the facility and start to wreck havoc again. The problem is this prison doesn't have any resource of weapons because that's how they run the place. So there are inmate's running around with no weapons getting killed by aliens. Also, there is the new alien called the dog-alien. They were created when an alien infected a normal dog on the planet. They are very dangerous and are also hard to kill. The rest of the people I listed for the stars are inmates of the prison and they follow this: Charles Dutton as Dillion, Paul McGann as Golic, Brian Glover as Andrews, Charles Dance as Clemens, and PetePostlethwaite as David.
My Thoughts:
Out of the four Alien movies, like many other people would agree, I consider this the weakest of them. Though the first sequel was very good, this one doesn't live up to the first or second one. I'm sure that if they decided to keep Newt, that she would improve the movie and make it a little more watchable. I like Fincher's later work(The Game,Seven) but this time he just didn't connect. I think that since this was his first flick he was getting used to movies and learned from his mistakes and that's why his future movies were better. I don't think it wsa necessary to shave Ripley's head, all it did was make her look tougher and meaner. There was also a lack of aliens in this one. In the first alien movie, there weren't that many because they wanted it to be very suspenseful, and in the second they put a crap load in, but in this one except for the new dog-aliens, there weren't many aliens on screen. For people who haven't seen this, don't read on because there'e a spoiler. I found it a little surprising that Ripley was infected by the face hugger in the beginning of the movie but it only bursts out at the very end of it. In the first movie, half-way through, the creature bursts through John Hurt's character, but for some reason it takes this entire movie for it to come out. They probably did this just so that there would be a climatic ending with Ripley falling into the fire with the chest burster popping out in mid-air, but if she got it in the beginning, she should have died earlier. If the first two alien movies were never made and this came out not as a sequel, it'd be a good movie, but since they did come out, compared to them, this is bad.
