Aliens
1986
Stars:
Sigourney Weaver, Carrie Henn, Micheal Biehn, Paul Reiser, Lance Henriksen, Bill Paxton.
Director: James Cameron
Plot: Ripley's(Sigourney Weaver) back fighting the same aliens just with a different crew. This time she has a little more background information on the creatures so she knows better how they work. Paul Reiser in his pre-Mad About You days stars as Carter J. Burke who is the leader and thinks that he can control the aliens. He wants to study and bring them back to earth. Though Ripley insists that it'd be too dangerous to try and contain them, he follow through and the crew suffers the consequences. There is also a young girl built into the story that Ripley and the crew find on same the planet where the aliens were originally found. The girl Newt(Carrie Henn) is very young and is alone because both of her parents were killed by the aliens. Bill Paxton also stars in this as Private W. Hudson and Micheal Biehn plays Corporal Dwayne Hicks. The queen alien is also introduced in this sequel who is gigantic and lays tons of alien eggs at a time.We know that the terror isn't over because there are two more sequels that follow.
My Thoughts:
Though some people think this is as good as the first Alien, I enjoyed the first one a little more than this one. That's probably because the first one was more of a thriller while this one was more action-oriented. Director Cameron, known for action flicks(True Lies, Terminator 1+2), still does a good job making this interesting and not copying the first one. This one also seems to move quicker because the chaos and action starts earlier in the flick. We also get to see the aliens more in this sequel which shows off the great special effects used in this film. I think some people liked this one more because it moved quicker and had more action, but I personally liked the original Alien because it was much scarier and had more suspense. If you liked the first one, I'm sure you'll enjoy this, but if you haven't seen either, I would recommend the first one, Alien.
