A
Page to Commemorate a Dear Friend
Jeffery Leblanc
My friend Jeff died in a car crash on March 10, 2002.
When a car hit him head on, the driver of the other car was a drunken,
drug addict. The guy that hit him last I
knew was at UMASS in Intensive Care crushed from the waist down. When the EMS got to the
scene they found Jeff who was driving in the back seat, DOA. I attended the funeral a few days later; the
family had to have a closed casket. At his
time of death Jeff was only 19 years old he would have turned 20 in June. He had just finished a course to be and EMT,
and was working at a job he loved with deaf people. Jeff was the kind of guy that everyone loved,
and everyone loved him. At his wake
there was a line almost a block down and they had to limit the number that went
into the funeral home and how long they stayed. A few days later when I cam back to school
this poem started coming out so I had to write it down for him. And I hope that he is with what ever god he believed
in now, with all the love around him that he shared while he was here with us.
Now I lay me down to sleep
If I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
Last night I lay a friend to sleep
So you my lord could take his fate
Now I pray to you for date
Today I lie and wait to take
Now I lay me down to sleep
If I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
Today I wake to wait
Hoping that life is still awake
For today will be the day
No more shall I wait
Now I lay me down to sleep
If I die before I wake
I pray the lord my soul to take
Today I will start a new
My friend I know is with you.

I hope you enjoyed this page,
and will keep Jeff in your mind when you go out drinking, or even for a Sunday joy
ride.
