The Politician | , |
Prologue
A politician was among the group,
He was on his way to a photo shoot,
Well his hair was blonde and his eyes were blue,
It was too obvious that he was new,
He was a young man not thirty in age,
And the current laws filled his heart with rage,
His thoughts were heavy, his briefcase full,
And nothing that he ever said was bull,
He was a virgin to the corrupt ways,
He worked to help people both night and day,
And to this game of stories that they played,
Was just the thing to keep his mind astray.

The Wolf and the Housedog
Once upon a time, a very long, long time ago, there was an old wolf who lived in a pine forest. This wolf got very little to eat because the dogs that lived in the nearby village were very watchful.
One night, as the hungry wolf was out hunting, he came upon a housedog that had wandered a bit too far from his home. The wolf would have gladly taken and eaten him right that very hungry second, and under normal circumstances would have, except the housedog looked extremely well-fed and looked strong enough to beat the scrawny wolf or at least leave his mark if he tried. Instead, the wolf decided to speak to the housedog very humbly rather than become his dinner. He began by complementing the housedog on his fine appearance.
"I admire your coat, so full and so glossy, and what a beautiful color."
"You could be just as well-fed as I am if you wanted to be," replied the dog. "Leave these woods where you have to fight so very hard for every measly bite you get. Leave your miserable existence and follow my example and you should do beautifully.
"What do you suggest I do?" asked the wolf. "Is there some kind of secret?"
"There is hardly anything to it," answered the housedog. "All you have to do is chase away criminals who carry their weapons at hand and beggars who walk with their palms up. You must be cautious to know these disagreeable people from the house visitors, who you must greet and give a little lick. Do all this and you shall receive tidbits of every kind. Chicken and pig bones, bits of meat, and cakes. Not to mention kind words and a good pat. And if you’re really lucky, the man will have a young boy. And if the boy is not in school and has done all of his chores, you can be sure there will be a ball to chase.
The wolf had such a beautiful vision of his upcoming happiness in his head that he almost began to weep. Thinking of how there would be no more hungry nights, he could almost no longer hear the growl in his own belly. But just then, the wolf noticed the hair on the dog’s neck was worn and the skin was chafed.
"What is that on your neck?" the dog asked.
"Oh, that. That is nothing at all," the housedog answered.
"Please, please tell me what has left such a terrible mark on your neck."
"Perhaps it is the mark left by my collar that you see."
The house dog had another question. "And where is your collar now?"
"Do you know nothing of the world? Are you a fool? I had to break my collar in order to come here today. It is at home attached to my chain."
"What?!?" exclaimed he wolf. A chain? You can’t go wherever you please?"
"No, I can’t, but what difference does it make?"
"Dear friend, that makes all the difference in the world. There is no gift in the entire world I would ever except at that high a price."
So as you can see, the moral of this story is: there is nothing worth more than liberty. And liberty and freedom is just what you will get with me as your Senator. So as November 4th approaches, make your ways to the polls to cast...
He didn’t have time to finish his speech. No one wanted to listen to him. He was told to ‘shut up’ from the back of the bus and it was on to the next story.
