Hope's Diary

3/23 8:14pm
I just got to Viridian City! I’m in the Poke Center. Nurse Joy is so nice! But first.....
I got up at 7:00am. I packed up and started off towards Viridian City. While I was walking I was sooo bored. But I needed to get to there. Faith said she got to Viridian City in 2 days.
I was tired so I decided to stop and rest. I sat down on a rock and took out a bottle of water from my backpack. I started drinking the water and immediately spit it out. It was warm! It tasted SOOO gross! That’s when I felt someone tap me on my shoulder. I jumped up off the rock and turned around. I was so scared. I thought it was a biker or Team Rocket member. Turned out it was just a man.
He had dirt stains all over himself. He also had a cut across his left cheek. When he spoke his voice sounded raspy. He was also panting. He said, ”I’ve been following you for awhile.” Pant pant. “Trying to catch up.” Pant. “You walk too fast.” Pant. “I’m supposed to give this-” Pant. Pant. “-to all Pokemon Trainers that take this route.” Pant pant. He reached into his big green backpack and pulled out something purple. “Here,” he said as he handed it to me.
I took a closer look and found out it was a potion. “Thank you,” I said as I took it from him.
He smiled then said, “Your welcome.” Then his smile disappeared and he asked me, “Do you know if any other Pokemon trainers are coming this way?”
    “Sorry,” I said, “I don’t know.”
He grunted then said, “Thanks anyway, kid.” Then he turned around and walked away.
After that I just kept walking towards Viridan City. While I was, I thought how horrible it would be to be stationed out there in the middle of nowhere.
After walking what seemed like miles, it started to get dark. Just what I need I thought. I hate the dark. I NEED to get to Viridan City. I NEED to. I looked out on to the horizon. The last of the suns rays were peeking out over it. It was so beautiful. The sky was pink, orange, yellow, and a little bit of blue. That’s when I saw it: Viridan City! I wasn’t about to give up. It was getting hard for me to see so I got out my flashlight and turned it on. I kept walking. I never give up. Never.
It was dark when I got there, but I did find the Poke Center. When the automatic doors opened warm air rushed at me. Two other people were sitting on a couch on the left side of the room: a boy and a girl.
The girl had long black hair and big brown eyes. She was wearing a pink and white striped dress and white sandals. She looked young, around 7. She was very playful. Talking to the boy in a loud voice.
The boy had somewhat puffy, dark brown hair and bangs that met in the center of his forehead and the same brown eyes. He had on a white T-shirt and denim jeans and black tennis shoes. He looked older, maybe a couple years older then me. He just sat patiently as the girl continued to talk.
A light above a door was on. It was rectangular and had a red syringe on it. No one was behind the desk so I sat down next to the girl.
Striped dress girl looked at me and said, “Hi. I’m Terri.”
    “Hi,” I responded. “I’m Hope.”
She smiled and said, “Why are you here? I’m here because my Pidgey got hurt. She got in to a fight with a Weedle. The Weedle stung her and now she’s poisoned!”
“I’m here to get a good night’s sleep. I’m on my Pokemon Journey.”
“Ooooohhh,” Terri said with wonder. “What Pokemon do you have?”
    “A Charmander,” I said proudly.
“What’s it’s name? What’s it’s name?” she said excitedly clapping her hands.
    “Charcoal.”
    “Cool name!”
“This other guy didn’t like it.”
Terri turned to the guy next to her then touched his arm. She faced me and said, “This is my big brother Jeremy. My mom said I’m too young to go out this late at night so she made Jeremy come with me.”
“How old are you,” I asked.
She smiled and said, “I’m 8. But my brother is 12.”
Jeremy leaned his head forward to look past his sister. “I’m sorry if my sister is bothering you,” he said. “I know she talks too much.”
“She’s not bothering me,” I told him.
The syringe light went off and a pretty lady in a nurse uniform appeared at the door under the light. If she was in a nurse’s uniform I was guessing she was the nurse.
“Your Pidgey is healthy again,” the nurse said.
Two Chansey pushed a stretcher with a happy Pidgey standing on it.
Terri jumped out of her seat and ran to her Pidgey with open arms yelling, “Birdie! You’re all right!” She scooped up Birdie the cradled her gently.
Jeremy stood up and said, “Come on. Let’s go home.”
They both walked towards the door then Terri turned around. She smiled and said, “Visit me. I live at the house on the left of the old gym.”     “Okay,” I shouted back.
They left and the pretty lady said, “Welcome to the Viridan City Pokemon Center. Sorry you had to wait. I’m Nurse Joy. How can I help you?”
“I heard you let people sleep here if their on their Pokemon Journey,” I said.
She nodded then said, “I know what you’re going to say. Follow me.” She took me through a door and down a hall. There were doors on either side of the hall. She stopped at the second door to the right then turned around. “This is your room. Make yourself at home.”
I thanked her then opened the door. Two beds were on either side of the room. There was a mirror on the right wall and a door on the left. I put my backpack on the bed to the right.
Then I turned around and opened the other door. It was a bathroom. There were two towels on the towel rack. I decided to take my shower.
When I was done I took you out of my backpack and started writing.
Do you think I should visit Terri tomorrow? I leave early, what if she’s not up yet? I don’t know this town, what if I get lost?
Oh well, I guess I’ll sleep on it. I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night.

3/24 8:18am
I’m in Terri’s house right now. She’s downstairs helping her mom with something. I decided to come here after all. I thought about it and figured Terri would be disappointed if I didn’t come.
I got up at 7:00am and got dressed. I left the room and found my way into the lobby. Nurse Joy was behind the counter. I thanked her and said good-bye. I left and started looking for the old gym.
I didn’t have any problems finding it. The gym is huge! I headed towards it and saw a two-story house on the left of it.
I knocked on the door and a tall black-haired woman opened it.
“Hello. Can I help you?” she asked me trying to hide the fact that I was bothering her with a smile.
“Hi.” I said. “I’m Hope. I met a girl named Terri last night at the PokeCenter She asked me to visit her. Does she live here?”
“Yes, she does. I’m Terri’s mother Please come in.” She stepped back and still held the door knob so she could close the door after I was inside.
I stepped into the house and thanked Terri’s mom as I passed her.
“Terri! Your friend Hope is here!” Terri’s mom yelled as she lead me into the living room.
The house was sooo clean. There were stairs on the left side of the room. A sofa and coffee table sitting in the middle of the room. They both faced the right wall which the TV was against. All the walls had pictures of Terri and Jeremy hanging on them.
Terri ran down the stairs. Halfway down she looked up into the living room, then after a quick glance she looked down again to make sure her feet were hitting the stairs properly. When she got to the foot of the stairs she looked up again and smiled pleasantly at me. “I can’t believe you came!” she shouted with pure joy in her voice. “Come on! I’ll show you my room.” She grabbed my hand which was dangling at my side.
“Okay,” I said. It wasn’t like I had a choice. She was already pulling me across the living room.
“Don’t get your room messy!” Terri’s mom yelled at Terri as she pulled me up the stairs.
    “Okay mom!” Terri yelled back.
Once upstairs she lead me down a hall and opened the first door on the right. On the door was a pink sign that said ‘Terri’s Room’. She pulled me into the room.
“This is my room,” she said as she dropped my hand.
Her room was all pink: pink curtains, pink carpet, pink desk, pink bedspread, pink table, pink chairs, pink- I think you got the point.
“Nice room,” I said through gritted teeth still looking around.
“Thanks. My mom decorated it,” Terri said.
“Terri!” a voice from outside the room called.
“Coming mom!” Terri yelled back. Then to me she said, “I’ll be right back.”
“Okay,” I said as I sat down on one of her 4 pink chairs surrounding her pink table. The one facing the door. I waited for 5 min. and Terri still didn’t come back so I wrote in you.
Oh. I hear someone on the other side of the door. Bye!

3/24 9:01am
I just had the most interesting talk with Jeremy. It was him outside the door.
He opened the door and saw me putting you away in my backpack. He looked surprised to see me and said, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know you were in here or else I would’ve knocked.” He looked at something on Terri’s pink desk then picked up a pink pen and put it in his pocket.
    “It’s okay,” I said.
“So you decided to come?” Jeremy asked as he sat down on the pink chair across from me.
    I nodded.
“You’re on your Pokemon Journey, huh?”
    “Yeah.”
    “What Pokemon do you have?”
    "Only a Charmander.”
    “Charmanders are cool.”
    “Terri told me you’re 12.”
    “I am.”
“You seem to be interested in Pokemon. Why don’t you become a trainer?” I didn’t really want to bother him but, I was courious.
He looked down. “My mom won’t let me,”he muttered in a sad voice.
“Why?” There I was bothering him again.
“Because she doesn’t like the idea of me going all over the place alone. She says they're a lot of bad people out there. I’m her little Jeremy.” He said the last part sarcastically.
“What if you come with me?”
He looked up and into my eyes. His big dark brown eyes twinkled. “Really?” he asked me. His voice sounded so full of hope.
“Yeah,” I said as I nodded.
For the first time, a smile broke across Jeremy’s face. It wasn’t a blinding teeth-filled smile, but it was a smile.
“Why don’t you go ask your mom?”
“Okay.” Then Jeremy stood up and walked towards the door. He opened it then with his hand still on the knob he stopped and turned around. “Hope?” he said.
"Hm?" I said as I looked up into eyes.
    “Thanks.”
    I smiled.
Then he turned around and left, closing the door behind him.
