Cruel Fashion

Fur coats can be among prized possessions to some people. Why?? I have no idea! If the person wearing the fur knew what really went into it, I doubt they'd want to put it on again.

The following information is a direct quote taken from LCAs Make Compassion The Fashion - Don't Wear Fur information pamphlet. To visit their website and gain more knowledge, please go to my Links page!

WILD FUR

The steel-jaw leg-hold trap, an instrument so torturous it has been banned in more than 65 countries, is the instrument of choice among trappers. Connibear traps, snares, and restraining devices round out the array of death dealing instruments used by trappers to slaughter furbearing animals in the wild.

When the steel jaw trap clamps shut, the torment begins. At least one in every four animals chews its own paw to escape. Those that are able to crawl away from the traps die from the loss of blood or infection. Trappers kill their victims by clubbing, strangling, or suffocation.

Trapping does not spare aquatic and semiaquatic animals such as beaver and mink who die slowly, held down under water by restraining devices until they drown in agony.

Traps do not discriminate, and at least five million domestic and wild trash animals are killed each year. Included are pet dogs, cats, birds, deer and endangered species. Many children are also hurt.

Animals do not have to be trapped, as nature serves to conserve in the wild by regulating the supply of food. Only those with a financial interest in slaughtering and butchering animals for their fur insist on deliberately manipulating the stocking and breeding programs to produce a surplus of animals.

That says it all!! And for those of you who say that trappers don't kill their victims by clubbing, strangling and suffocation - you live in a bubble, because trappers DO kill that way and there is plenty of proof if you'd only open your eyes and look!
