Who Lives in a Pineapple Under the Sea?

Spongebob Squarepants!

Spongebob Squarepants is an animated show that has been on Nickelodeon since 1999. It follows the residents of Bikini Bottom. I have not been watching the show since its debut, but once I sat down and watched what is now my favorite episode, Sailor Mouth, I became an avid fan.

The show quickly became a huge hit when Nickelodeon introduced it. Not only was it popular with the usual age range of the channel's audience, but kids and adults of all ages felt (strangely) drawn to it as well.

In this project I am interested in seeing how Kohlberg's Theory of Moral Development relates to the characters in the show. I also want to examine how what at first appears to be a show geared towards young children can appeal to a much larger audience.
