Macavity
'Macavity's not there!'
Macavity's a ginger tom, with sunken-in eyes, he's very tall and thin...well, that's what the song says. He's actually mostly blood red, with slashes of white and black, with a LOT of bristling fur all over him. His wig is REALLY long. His face is completely covered in make-up, which is a sort of weird black & red pattern. The Napoloean of Crime was based on Professor Moriarity, Sherlock Holmes' arch-nemesis. He is NOT, contrary to all-too popular belief, stupid. He's actually very smart; one line of the poem that was left out of the musical is '...or engaged in doing complicated long-divison sums.' Macavity is NOT a 'sweetheart' or someone who really down inside just wants to be kind, and all that stuff. Lots of people, in their stories, portray him as being very kind, and gentle, and sweet...HE IS EVIL!! And cold hearted, too. People have claimed that he is Munkustrap's brother, and I agree to that. However, when I first watched the video, I didn't think that he was in love with Demeter. I thought that he was taking her because Munkustrap loved her, and he was trying to hurt Munku. Macavity doesn't have any singing to do; he dances. He sort of leaps around a lot, and he does the fight with Munkustrap. The person who plays Macavity plays also Plato (at least in the vid). Actor's who've played him: Bryn Walters (vid), Kenny Linden (London), Angelo H. Fraboni (Broadway)
