Angela's Ashes

by Frank McCourt

ISBN 0-684-87435-0

I thought so much of this book, that I actually can remember the name of the author! I love it. I could not put it down, could not read it fast enough! It was an intense read for me - even though I was brought up in luxery compared to his childhood, his story evoked many memories of my own: feelings of being inadequate, and of not understanding the world. The book is remarkable in that it is written exactly how a child observes and absorbs the world around them.

At times heartbreaking, at other times so uplifting that I laughed aloud, this is one book I recommend with no doubts at all

There are No Accidents: Synchronicity and the stories of our lives

by Robert Hopcke

ISBN 1 57322 681 5

The author records and comments on the "role of Synchronicity in our love and work lives, in the everyday and spiritual, in waking and in dreams". Very interesting book. Not really a fast read, nor one that draws the reader into another world, but I find myself returning to it at odd times, working my way through all of it.

The Professor and the Madman

'A Tale of Murder, Insanity, and the Making of the Oxford English Dictionary'

by Simon Winchester

ISBN 0 06 099486 X (paperback)

What a book! I was constantly surprised by the author's ability to 'connect the dots' between all the people in this story! It is almost too strange to be true. A really enjoyable read, and most informative.
