Home of the 2001 Ryder Cup Games!! Also the site of many Ryder Cup matches, the Brabazon course at the Belfry is an exceptional course. At last look, it cost 50 pounds to play the Brabazon course, while it only costs 18 quid to play the other Belfry course (The Derby). The first problem you'll face is getting around that damn tree just past the first tee. This course really shows it's true colors under Windy conditions, and, being in England, is the norm. The 6th tee shot has water up the left side, be wary of the wind! The 9th and 18th holes share a green, and they are both difficult to putt. The 10th hole is probably the biggest risk, smallest reward hole in LS. It is reachable, but try it in Practice Mode with a variety of wind directions first. A lot of the tee shot landing areas get quite narrow, not unlike Valderramma. I've had rounds where I've only been able to reach one of the par 5's because of the wind. This course is always a challenge.
The 7176 yard, par-72 layout was created by Peter Alliss and Dave Thomas in a resort area of the West Midlands near Birmingham. Two holes on the back have gained deserved notoriety. The 301 yard par-4 #10 is reachable from the tee, but the long knocker must thread through trees and clear a pond. Even a safe lay-up drive demands a testy short approach over the water to a shallow green. The 455 yard, par-4 #18 has earned the reputation as one of the most famous and exhaustive finishing holes in all of golf. Players must drive long over a narrow tree-lined and unseen section of lake to a small landing area guarded on the right by two fairway bunkers. From there its a long carry crossing back over the lake's wide expanse to a three-tiered green. It can be a deceptive target even without the often swirling winds. The hole is made even tougher because it is the last and many a promising round has ended in disaster. With many small well bunkered greens, narrow rolling fairways winding intermittently through lakes and across streams, the course has proven to the best golfers in the world that it is not to be trifled with.
