Pebble Beach, known worldwide as the ultimate challenge of golf, and it's the truth. The 1999 US Amateur was played here, and the 2000 US Open will be played here along with the annual AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am. Pebble starts off with a severe dogleg right. Use a 3W at the most, or plan on landing in a very thin fairway. The second is a reachable par 5. Take advantage of it! The tee shot on the third hole is one of the more interesting I've seen. Has to be seen to be believed. The ocean starts coming into play on the 4th hole. Do NOT go down there! It is the sand trap from hell. Maybe, in practice mode, just try it out someday. The beach is in play, but your shot may be extremely difficult. You must be far enough back from the edge to hit a club with enough loft back up to the fairway/green. Trust me... avoid it. The 6th is a great par 5 visually. The approach is uphill all the way. Wonderful hole, nuff said. The 7th is one of the most picturesque par 3's around. A missed snap here is a nightmare. Thus begins some of the toughest holes around. Tom Watson stated that the next group of holes are the toughest group of par 4 holes in the world. The approach on 8 goes over a chasm, while the approach on 9 is probably the toughest approach in LS. The 10th is another doozy. If your tee shot is played correctly on the par 5 14th, you can go for the green in two. The 17th is a great par 3, with a thin green One of the best holerunning perpendicular to the ball flight. What can be said about the 18th? One of the most famous holes in golf. Be careful of the tree in the fairway on your tee shot. It's positioned perfectly to get in your way. Green can be reached, but it's guarded very well by bunkers, and, of course, the ocean on the left.
