From Bubsnews: "The LinksLS beta v1.17 patch is available for those Power Strokers having problems with the v1.10 patch. This is just an interim patch and is a prelude to the final v1.20 patch. For those of you who have contacted me in regards to problems with the v1.10 patch, email me at bub@bubsnews.com and I will forward you to Mark Hulka, who will make available to you the site where you can download the v1.17 patch. Please, make sure to follow the instructions for backing up the three files that will be over-written during the v1.17 install just in case you need to revert back to pre v1.17 install system condition." I guess this patch is just available on an asking basis...It isn't posted anywhere yet..

On the LSTour's News page, there was some info about the VGA Tourney. You must have Bay Hill to play the first round of the VGA Tournament. Bay Hill was a bonus course in the 10 pack, but if you don't have it, Microsoft will have it available for download very shortly!!!!

Still awaiting word about the new patches that are planned for LinksLS; till then...Here's two more screenshots of VGA Harbour Town...I played a round there yesterday with 2 of my ani's and shot -18 and -16..(no wind/normal/medium though..). Here's hole #17 with the newly added 70 yd. bunker!! Here's hole #18 from the fairway..I love this course!!

Here's a screenshot I took of the final hole at Harbour Town(VGA). I do like the new looks of the new courses. This shot shows a good view of the Wingspan Bank.com billboard behind the green and the lighthouse. I just played about 4 holes of each Vga course, but only saw the Wingspan Bank.com advertising on 2 of the 4 courses...

Guenter recently announced that their will be a update to fix the update included in the 10 pack...Because of massive PowerStroke problems with the new Patch v1.10, which is included on the 10 Course Pack CD, Microsoft has decided to come up with a new version 1.20 of the patch. Expected changes are: Multiplayer fixes, and v1.10 PowerStroke issues will be looked at.. In the interim, a v1.15 (beta) will be released with the multiplayer changes. V1.15 will be available via the LS Tour web site sometime next week. (Anyone using v1.10 or v1.15 will not be able to participate in LS Tour events, so backup your linksls2k.exe if you plan on updating to those versions..

On a very good LinksLS Messageboard where many of reliable sources post, I heard something I found joyous about the LinksLS Designer. Click Here to read the message posted. In a nutshell, it just said that he heard that the Designer will most likely be released a lot sooner than previous thought. Instead of being released with LS 2001, it will be available during the summer by itself!!!!

Rumour has it, that the Links LS Course Designer, which will - most likely - be included in the 2001 release of Links, has entered a stage, where it is to be tested.
Links LS 2000 Patch (Ver 1.10) for the US Version of the game will take care of the problem with the Intellipoint 3.0 mouse-driver.

Microsoft announced earlier that the Links LS 2000 10-Course Pack enhancement, developed by Access Software, has gone gold. This means the product is completed and is expected to start showing up on store shelves in the U.S. in mid-February...Guenter has just got an email from Steve Cherrier about the tournament API support for the next version of links. "I know that there has been a lot of discussion over the last two days regarding Tournament API support in future versions of Links LS. I want you to know that Microsoft listened to all of the comments and suggestions -- and even the angry responses. Even though it will take a significant amount of effort to include Tournament API support in the next version of Links, Microsoft has decided to do this this because of its importance to you and the Links community.
We realize how important the hosting of tournaments is to the many fine Web sites devoted to this. We very much would like to continue to support your efforts in this regard and will ensure that the next version of Links LS includes Tournament API support. Please know that it was never the intention to alienate the long-standing Links community. Without such an active and supportive community, Links would not be where it is today."

Links 2001 News
Here comes a disturbing quote from John Parsons (President at Golfcom).
"[...] today I received an e-mail from my good friend Mark Hulka that was from Steve Zobell who is the leading programmer for Links LS 2000. In this e-mail it said this: In an attempt to move our online focus from a separate tournament web site to the MSN Gaming Zone, the basic architecture of future versions of Links will be redesigned with the Zone in mind. This means the Tournament API as we know it will no longer exist and 3rd parties will not be able to create their own online tournaments using future versions of Links. This does not, however, prevent current Tournament API users from using Links LS 99 or Links LS 2000 in their online tournaments [...]"
Looks like a bad day for all tournament sites, which do use their own launchers.

According to Guenter Kujat and his website, the anticipated lineup for the upcoming LinksLS 2000 10 Course Pack, Volume 1 has been announced. Most likely the courses included in this release will be: BOUNTIFUL, CASTLE PINES, ENTRADA, FIRESTONE, KAPALUA PLANTATION, KAPALUA VILLAGE, LATROBE, PINEHURST, SEA ISLAND, THREE CANYONS (a new fantasy course). (I'll probably end up buying it just for Three Canyons..,maybe next time they'll release some new courses..)

Kinda forgot about this page until now...Yeeks..Well as reported from Guenter Kujat, and his LS site, rumour has it, that the next course release for Links LS may be The Prince Course.
The Prince Course
It was reported, that players have met the Access design team, while they were filming and photographing the course.
Princeville Prince Course -18 Holes, Par 72, 7,309 Yards, Rated 75.6, Slope Rated 144 The Prince Course, the number one rated golf course in Hawaii by Golf Digest, is golf as it was meant to be played. The Prince course is Robert Trent Jones, Jr.'s masterpiece. Looking as if it has emerged full-blown from nature, it chugs uphill, jumps ravines, and careens downhill. Not surprisingly, it has recently been called "the Pine Valley of the Pacific."

Links LS 2000 Yesterday, Microsoft released the trial version(demo) for LinksLS 2000!!! You can download it by clicking here! The trial version features the breathtaking front nine of Mauna Kea and includes multiplayer support for those of you who want to tee it up with friends on the MSN Gaming Zone. Microsoft also announced a hole-in-one contest. You can attempt a hole-in-one shot on the game's Mauna Kea hole 7. If you shoot an ace you can enter your saved shot into the Sweepstakes and become eligible to win the grand prize, which includes a five-night stay at the world-famous Mauna Kea Beach Hotel and a round of golf at the Mauna Kea Golf Course.

The contest runs through Dec. 31, 1999, and the grand prizewinner will be chosen via a random drawing. The complete prize package includes round-trip air fare for two to Hawaii, five nights at the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, a rental car for five days, a travel allowance of $500 and a round of golf for two at the Mauna Kea Golf Course, featuring hole 3, the only hole in Hawaii rated among the "100 Best Holes in the World" by Golf Digest.

To enter, you must own the full retail copy of Links LS 2000, or download the trial version. Once a hole-in-one shot on Mauna Kea hole 7 is achieved, you'll be asked to save your shot (an option on the post-shot screen). Once saved, send the saved shot file as an e-mail attachment to Links2K@microsoft.com, with the subject line reading "Microsoft 'Links LS 2000' Hole-in-One Sweepstakes." The body of the e-mail message must include the your full name, address, and daytime phone number. You also have the option of saving the saved shot onto a disk and mailing it, along with a 3x5 card indicating their contact information, to Microsoft, Attn: The "Links LS 2000" Hole-in-One Sweepstakes entry, 4750 Wiley Post Way, Bldg. 1, Ste. 200, Salt Lake City, UT, 84116.

I just got LinksLS2000 yesterday. Not a whole lot better than 99; but it is kind of worth it to get the new courses and to keep up with everyone else changing. One of the new features that I REALLY like is the ability to change the sky during the game. I prefer the really cloudy, overcast one. LS2000 doesn't however save any of your saved shots. I will keep the 99 saved shots on, but I will also add a new section for LinksLS 2000 ones.
