Chapter 33

"My feet hurt so bad," Candice sighed relaxing on her recliner.
"Want a foot rub," James smiled at her.
"Naw, I'll be fine," she kissed him lightly on the lips and he went back to watching the football game.
"Football! Yeay!" Candice whined.
"Yeah, yeah sush! You know you love this stuff!"
"No, not really," Candice stood up and felt a deep pain in her side, then nausea took over her whole body. "Ohmigod," she whimpered as she hit the ground.
"Candice!" James called diving next to her. "Stay awake!"
"James I'm gonna be sick," she whispered as she jumped up and ran to the bathroom, James was hot on her heels.
"This isn't normal," she said pulling her head out of the toilet.
"I know," James mumbled rubbing her back. "I know."
"James, can you take me to my mom's?"
"Yeah, I think that's best since I'm leaving town for three days. I want you to sit around all day and night, don't do a thing!"
"Fine," Candice sat back against the wall and James.
"Let's go get you ready and then we can get some food and visit your mom."
"Alright."

She walked down the stairs and grabbed the bottle of pain reliever.
"Do you have a headache again," her mother asked as Candice popped two pills in her mouth.
"Yeah," she took a drink.
"Wonder what they are from," her mother asked full of worries.
"Oh, Momma it's nothin'," Candice shrugged it off. "I mean really, I just get them every once in a while."
"Everyday for the past yeah and a half," her mother frowned. Her heart went out to her daughter. "Maybe we should take you to the doctor and get a cat scan."

Candice walked up to her room in shock, thousand of thoughts ran through her head. A cat scan, what is she crazy?! I need to talk to someone! Mandi? Nope she's boating. Courtney? Nope she's probably working. Nick? Sure why not..
One ring..two...three..

"Hello?"
"Hey Nick."
"Hey, I'm actually getting used to your voice!"
"Thanks.. I think," she chuckled.
"Well, whatcha up to girl?"
"Um..I just need someone to talk to," she sighed.
"What's wrong? Is it the baby?"
"The baby's fine, it's me."
"What's wrong? Tell me!"
"Well, my mom wants me to get a cat scan done. It's because of these constant headaches and nausea all day long."
"Do you think," Nick didn't want to say it.
"I dunno, if it is Ohmigod Nick!" She slammed the phone down. Nick sat baffled, this was one of the sweetest people he knew. Why? Why does all this bad stuff happen to her? Nick asked himself. Why? The word repeated in his head until it was filled with the one word he didn't want it to be; Cancer.

Two Days Later

"That's the soonest you can get her in," James asked exhausted.
"Sorry," the nurse hung up.
"So when is it," Candice sat down at the table with her bowl of apple slices.
"October 6," Candice's jaw dropped.
"That's like two months," she kissed him lightly.
"I love you."
"I sure hope so," James took one of her apple slices.
"Hey! That's Bitsy's!"
"Bitsy?" "My baby!"
"Oh right, right," he raised an eye brow.
"You're so mean!" James grinned.
"What are you talking about," James asked as she began to stand up.
"NO!" She pulled him back by his arm. "I know you took my posters down!"

"What posters?"
"Oh I dunno! Maybe the Millennium one, Nick, Howie, the one from my concert," Candice hissed.
"Oh those," he kissed her softly.
"NO! I want my posters!"
"I hate having to look at those guys every day and night," James sighed as she threw his arms up in the air.
"Oh Jamie you know you like them," Candice teased.

"I said I hate looking at then EVERY day and night!"
"Love ya!"
"You can put two up," James said giving into her puppy dog eyes.

"Three?"
"Two!"
"Four?"
"Two!"
"Five?"
"Three!"
"Thanks, now where did you hide them," Candice asked as she jumped out of her seat.
"You're acting like a freakin' twelve year old!"
"Where?"
"In the yellow room," James waved her off and held his head in his hands.

Candice ran off to the yellow guest room, she decided since she had so many different rooms, that making them different colors verse finding them solely on location would make everyone's life easier. She walked into the room and gasped. All of her posters, magazines, pictures, videos, backstage passes, and shirts were in the room. "Oh James," she smiled. He stood behind her grinning with the video camera.
"Like it?"
"I love it! Thanks so much," she wrapped her arms around him and hugged him tightly.
"The Official Backstreet fan bed room," James laughed. "How long did this take," Candice asked still gazing at the walls in amazement.
"Two days, I did it slowly and carefully, so you wouldn't notice. I didn't even tare one of them!" Candice smiled at him.
"Thank you James, this means a lot!"
"I got one more thing to show ya," James sent her an evil glance.

"What? Ohmigod!" Her hand flew up to her mouth. She stared at the doorway then started to scream. He slowly walked toward her, a small grin on his lips and his arm open.
"Miss me?"
"Oh hell yeah!" He chuckled slightly as Candice wrapped her arms around him, she felt as if she could never let go.
"Hey watch it, you're gonna be a bad influence on the baby," he smiled as he took a step back and admired her. She was lovely, even more lovelier then he remember. She now had color and wasn't a rail anymore.
"Silly! Bitsy can't talk yet," she his him playfully.
"Bitsy?" He cocked an eyebrow.
"Yes, we've got a lot of catching up to do boy, have you grown?" Candice walked toward him again and laughed. "How did you get here anyway? Wasn't it a long way? What if someone saw you?" She was talking a mile a minute, something she did when she was happy.
"Whoa," he pulled her into another hug. "Slow down, I'm gonna be here the whole day and night and all!" Her eyes lit up.
