Maddens Men -  27 vs. Steelants - 34

After a 30minute delay with technical difficulties the game was under way. The Steelants received the ball to start the first half and scored with a Frank Picazio run. On the Maddens Men's next possession they were held to a 4 and out. For the rest of the first quarter both teams failed to move the ball enough for first downs. Shortly in the second quarter the Maddens Men scored on a Steelants blitz which left Andrew Palmieri wide open for a touch down. Steelants answered back by driving down the field and Dan Graff hitting wide open Jason LaPlante in the end zone for a quick touchdown. It was Maddens turn to even the score and they did so by a touchdown pass to Steve McCarthy. At half time the score was 13-13 and Maddens men received after half. Steelants defense came up big again holding them to a turnover on downs. Then Matt Fallon received a touchdown pass. The pass put the Steelants up 20-13. On the next possession of Maddens Men they drove in and scored on an Andrew Palmieri run. Steelants came back with a touchdown pass to Jason LaPlante. Again the Steelants defense bailed their team out by a Frank Picazio interception. Jason LaPlante caught another touchdown pass bumping the Steelants up to a comfortable lead of 14points with little time left in the 4th quarter. Jeff Jones threw a long touchdown pass to Mike Auperin to make the game a one touchdown game. On the next kickoff the East Lyme Police made their first appearance to the BYFL field. They asked us to turn down our music. After the short delay in game the Steelants returned to the field to run out the clock.

Steelants Team Owner is the viciously attacked.

Late Sunday night the owner of the Steelants Frank Picazio was viciously attacked by his house cat. The incident started when Frank was trying to capture a kitten found out side for Fighting Wombats Co-Owner Pat Hunter. The kitten was inside and Frank's cat attacked his mother. Ottis the cat that was attacking his mother was only trying to defend his territory. In an act of heroics Frank kicked the feline off of his mother. Now Ottis was fueled with pain and jealousy, it then mauled Frank. Shortly after the skirmish Frank said "I'm just lucky to be alive. I was scared for my life." This freak accident could send Picazio to the disabled list. Check here for injury status.

Byfl Preseason - Steelants Vs. Fighting Wombats.

Steelants - 60     Fighting Wombats - 26

Despite the absence of the Leagues Offensive Player of the year the Steelants had plenty of offense to put out. Steelants offense stalled at the 5 yard line, Coach Picazio opted to go for field goal. James Sistaire split the up rights to make the score 19-0 at the end of the first quarter. The Steelants defense really picked up the slack holding the Wombats to 0 points after the first quarter. The offense of the Wombats was powered by hulking Fullback Matt Smith ("Smitty"). Several times the Wombats handed the ball off to Smitty and he pounded his way for tough yards. Smitty was also used as a receiver out of the backfield. He also caught many passes and racked up some good yardage. However the Wombats failed to convert the runs by Smitty into first downs. More so they didn't convert Red Zone opportunities into touchdowns.
