You know you'd jump at the chance. And for Valentine's Day 2002 you just might get lucky. The VLS has released into circulation a double VCD of Van and Candy 98 & 96 in Germany. The VCD format makes it easily tradeable, and it can be viewed on most DVD players, as well as a personal computer. Groovy! But let's get serious for a moment. Candy is sweet, but she's not easy. One can't expect to just "sign up" and have her delivered to one's doorstep! If not via public sign-up, however, then how? Complaining, demanding, coaxing, whining, groveling: --- are any of these a suitable approach for such a sought-after adventure? Did those tactics work with your valentine? Many would say from experience that winning a true valentine takes persistence, a unique convergence of taste, need and desire, and bit of simple good luck in order to make that cosmic connection. Sounds a bit like music trading in the old days - nicht wahr? In the days before digital perfection, in the days before instant gratification. ....But then again, maybe "nobody knows how to trade anymore." ("drdirt8" Feb 12, 2002) Candy is already out there - but VLS won't cheapen her by passing her around publicly, and those do may be patsies and dupes at best, or worse: active agents of an evil plot!! Here in the VLS bunker we joyfully embrace the paradoxes we encounter everywhere in Vanland, knowing that they will be resolved in the fullness of time. Witness the wisdom of Mr. Chauncey Gardener, {admin dopplegänger?} who has stated: "There is plenty of
room for new growth of all kinds, but first some things must
wither." And yet he also
tells us: Candy is out there. Persistence, shared tastes, needs and desires, simple good luck: nothing more is required. No deadlines, no signups. Long-term personal relations are the ideal goal, and they bring a reward beyond music. Some folks do know how to trade. A few private mails to trading partners may be all that is needed. If you have no luck - be patient - the Candy Dating Service is coming soon!
