-General Strategy-

Always have plenty of peons (scv, drone, probe). I would recommend 2 for every mineral and at least 3 on gas, 4 if you need gas in a hurry.

When attacking always try to hit the income source first ie: reaver drop. This will slow them down greatly giving you a chance to build up.

Try to use the skill units (high templar, defiler, sience vessel) as much as possible, they have immence power.

Lead the attack with melle units and then follow behind with ranged units.

Always try to expand as much as possible while remaining defended. However, the defence will have to be sparce to generate the most revenue somtimes. In other words, taking risks may pay off.

Make sure you keep your population limit well above what you have. Having to wait for a farm (supply depot, overlord, pylon) can slow down your production.

If the enemy is hevily fortified in the front, try the back enterance.

Always try to keep detectors in abundace. For terran this would be the comsat, missle towers, and sience vessels. Zerg have overlords and spore colonies. Protoss detectors include cannons and observers.

Always try to get all the possible attack and armor upgrades. They can help to increase the longevity of your forces indefinetly.

In a multiplayer game always look at what race your opponent is. This, along with the map should give you clues to what strategies they may be using, and help prepare for them.

Try to send a peon scouting at the start of every mission to gather information on where the opponent is, what buildings they have (which can tell you their strategy), and what race they are (if they left it on random).
