The EU approves. The FTC approves. Shareholders approve. Everybody approves. So it looks as if Swiss drugmaker Novartis AG (NOVN.VX) and Alcon (ACL.N) will wed (buyout by Novartis). Before it gets the blessing of the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), however, Novartis must shed some weight, by selling an injectable eye-care drug used in cataract surgery to Bausch & Lomb.
