Now Playing: The Faces--"You Can Make Me Dance, Sing Or Anything"
This week has been pretty splendiferous, all told.

I went out on a date for the first time in four years Wednesday night. A charming, intelligent, and attractive young woman named Emily, who recently worked at the restaurant, asked me out just before she left, which was fantastic, as I don't think dating people at work is a good idea (anymore). We went to see the Enron documentary, The Smartest Guys in the Room, which was informative, passionate, and witty, the movie Fahrenheit 9/11 should have been. Of course, the movie took a back seat to me trying to comprehend the enormity of what was taking place in the theater. I haven't been out on an actual date in four years, so this... has got me in a bit of a tizzy, quite frankly. Nothing else of any importance is going on, not that it would. I even view Ann Arbor in a different light these days (of course, any other town in the country would also assume a brighter hue under such circumstances, so the place is still overrated). Here's hoping I don't fuck things up somehow.

Natalie--thanks a million; that means a lot to me. And Mom, you don't have to read it.

I didn't appreciate that; at least I read and respond.

Dude, you shouldn't tell your mom you have a blog. That's key.

Anyway, the key to women is to not care/worry. And then it might work out. Or not. And it won't be a big deal.

Good thing you didn't go to GLMS Friday... sound problems and one of their weakest sets.

It seems that, according to your friends, I shouldn't be aware of this communication at all.
I'll be deleting it from my desktop; that should make everyone happy.
E-mail me...of course, when you HAVE TIME. I'm sure you are much busier than I am.

I thought a blog was open to anyone...even moms. I guesss I was mistaken.
Not to worry; I won't be commenting again.

wow...all that upon you sharing this awesome post about going out on a date and all the thoughts & feelings that you're experiencing...i'm really happy for you, my friend.

Wendell's mom, if you're still reading, blogs are open to everyone, as is the right to comment (if the writer allows comments). But they are often spaces where people say what they really want to say, as opposed to being polite for politeness sake. When you commented upon Wendell's language, all I could think was that you didn't really *hear* anything he was saying, and I find that sad. Wendell's language reflects only upon Wendell--even if your friends and family are reading it.

Sigh... I knew this might happen...

Brandon, I SO see where you're coming from, but one of my purposes in putting this blog on the web was to let my parents know what was going on with me so that I they wouldn't think I'd gotten sick of it all and torched myself outside of... I don't know--I guess Sweetwater's could certainly use the negative publicity. Thanks for the support, though, and I fully intend to see GLMS when they play Crazy Wisdom on the 26th or whenever it is. I would have made the Kelly Caldwell show but we had a WRAP Facilities Committee meeting.

Cathy, thanks so much for your words.

I'm going to email my mom now...

GLMS isn't playing Crazy Wisdom after all-- apparently Brandon Wiard listed them as playing without them even confirming such(?). So ignore all listings of such... I hope that not too many people show up expecting to see them and have to settle for ready-for-VH1 singer-songwriter stuff instead. View my blog's upcoming.org events calendar (or their website) for more accurate dates.

Miss Whisperfall: I resent the comment that you don't think I "heard" what Rawls was saying. You don't know me, I don't think. I've "heard" him for over thirty years.
