OBITUARIES

Bonnie Lou Patton Funkhouser
(September 13, 1942 - August 12, 2007)

Bonnie Lou Patton Funkhouser went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 12, 2007, after a courageous battle with a rare form of arthritis.

Bonnie was born in Cushing, OK on September 13, 1942, to Thelma Blackburn Patton and Zora Patton. She attended school and graduated from Cushing High School in 1961. She then enrolled in nurses’ training at Blackwell School of Nursing and graduated in 1963 as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She moved to Tulsa and was employed at Saint Francis and Saint John’s Hospitals, as well as various nursing homes for 30 years before retiring from active nursing in 1992.

Bonnie was married to Ross Funkhouser on June 19, 1964 in Cushing. They then moved to Shreveport, LA to complete his military obligation. After his discharge, they returned to Oklahoma, living briefly in Cushing, where their only child was born. After residing in Stillwater and Mannford, they settled in the Sand Springs/Sapulpa area in 1978.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her beloved mother Thelma Patton.

She is survived by her husband, Ross, of the home; daughter Greta White and husband Stan of Sapulpa; two precious grandchildren, Meredith and Drew White; father Zora Patton; twin sister, Carolyn Patton; sister and brother-in-law, Kay and Jim Dooley; one niece and four nephews, Vicki Daigneault, Tim, Ken, and Mike Dooley, and Brian Funkhouser; nine grandnieces and grandnephews; and a host of extended family members and friends.

Bonnie was an active member at First Assembly of God since 1978 until her health declined. She greatly enjoyed her years singing in the choir, serving as a nurse at Kid’s Camp, and preparing funeral meals as a member of the WM’s (Women’s Ministries). She continued to be an active Christian, even witnessing to those who provided hospice care during her illness. She was her daughter’s best friend and her grandchildren’s best playmate. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who can be comforted by the sure knowledge that she is now in the presence of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Funeral services are scheduled for Thursday, August 16, 2007 at 10:00 a.m. at First Assembly of God Church, Sand Springs, under the direction of Mobley-Dodson Funeral Service in Sand Springs. Burial will be at Highland Cemetery in Pawnee, OK. at 2:00 p.m.
