Jessie Goldie Griffeth, age 94, a longtime Cushing resident
passed away on Wednesday, December 19, 2007 at Linwood Village,
Cushing. Funeral services were held on Saturday, 11:00 a.m.
at the First Presbyterian Church, with Cushing. Rev. Tom Stewart
officiating. Interment followed at the Euchee Valley Memorial
Park, Cushing. Casket bearers were Neal Barton, Greg Griffeth,
Dr. Randy Grellner, John Walters, Jeff Jones and Rob Reid.
Arrangements are entrusted to Palmer Marler Funeral Home,
Cushing.
Jessie was born to T. A. “Nick” and Mina (Hermanstorfer)
Anderson on December 15, 1913 in Cushing where she lived
throughout her life. She attended school in Cushing and
graduated in 1930. Jessie married Wilbur F. Griffeth on November
21, 1934. They made their home in Cushing. They owned the
Griffeth Dairy and later the Griffeth Feed Store in Cushing
until retirement in 1964. A member of the First
Presbyterian Church since she was a child, Jessie was also a
member of the Presbyterian Circle. She belonged to numerous
rural organizations in the Harmony and Happy Valley area. She
was a member of the Friendly 20, the Worthwhile Club and also a
Bunko Club. Jessie loved to quilt, making each of her
grandchildren a handmade quilt and most of the great
grandchildren a quilt. She enjoyed gardening. Jessie loved to
cook and entertain others; she was very hospitable and always had a big smile on her face and a warm laugh.
Jessie is survived by her son Bill Griffeth and his wife
Karen of Edmond, sister Julia Martin of Cushing, grandchildren
Kim Walters and husband John, Greg Griffeth and wife Katrina,
Shelley Grellner and husband Randy, Neal Barton, Nita Jones and
husband Jeff, Nikki Reid and husband Rob, great grandchildren
Corbin and Hadley Walters, Amarie and Georgia Ann Griffeth,
Austin and Jacob Grellner, Amanda and Olivia Leal, Jack Jones,
Banyon and Jessica Reid.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Wilbur
F. Griffeth in 1996, daughter Virginia Ann “Ginger” Barton
in 1992, son-in-law H. B. Barton, sister Jetty Cook, brother
Jimmy Anderson.
The family of Jessie of would like to Thank the Staff of
Linwood Village for their loving and devoted care.
Memorials may be made in Jessie’s name to the First
Presbyterian Church, Cushing.
