For Ashley

I saw my Mommy’s tear-stained face,
My Daddy’s tender eyes.
The deepest love was in their hearts
as they kissed my lips good-bye.


I knew I was going on a trip-
to where, I wasn’t sure.
I closed my eyes for one last time,
I felt peace and love so pure.


A beautiful band of angels
were immediately surrounding me.
It was then I felt within my heart
I was where God meant me to be.


The angels took me to a man
whose eyes shone bright with love.
He said, “I am your Grandpa,
I’ve been watching you from above.”


My Grandpa took me by the hand,
“There is someone I want you to meet.”
He lead me to the Savior’s throne
where we knelt at Jesus’ feet.


Grandpa said, “This man is Jesus-
He has loved you from the start.”
I looked into His glorious face,
and I felt the love stream from His heart.


He said, “My precious child,
do not be afraid.
For I am your Heavenly Father,
in whose image you were made.”


My Heart was filled with joy!
All pain and suffering past.
My beautiful body whole again,
my soul at peace at last!


I know that I’ll be happy
in this place so wonderful and bright-
With my Grandpa on my left,
and my Jesus on my right.


Don’t worry, Mommy and Daddy-
for soon we’ll meet again!
In heaven there’s a place for you
with Jesus, my new Friend!
