Half-Elves      Half-Elves on Vlacian are uncommon, but not entirely unknown. Because elves do leave Vlacian and occasionally fall in love with human life and vitality, some half-elves are born. A half-elf from Kistaapn is almost impossible, because by elves they are called 'half-humans' and only by concealing that she was pregnant could a rogue elf very rarely slip back into Vlacian and have a child. Elven women carrying half-elven babies can choose how their children will live - as a human, or an elf. Their children will look almost exactly like a human or elf in this case, but will still possess the qualities of a half-elf in the Players Handbook. Half-elves born to human women are entirely different - they end up being a mixture of the races. Like in the picture above, they have the complexion of their human parents, with less-angular features than elves and ears that are less pointy than elven ears. A deragatory term for a half-elf is 'round ear' because of this. They tend to be either beautiful in a typical sense or beautiful in an entirely odd way, rather than looking like a simple human. Their features are slightly angular, though not as much so as their elven parent. They develop slower than humans, but faster than elves, and often reach maturity around 40 years of age. This can be tragic for young half-elves, because if their guardian parent is human they will often die before the half-elf is really an adult.      Half-elves have no society of their own, except in the Independent States where half-elves have been known to form loose communities. A child of two half-elves has 1/4 chance of having looks and qualities that are completely human, 1/4 chance of having looks and qualities that are completely elven, and 1/2 chance of being a mix between the two and having the looks and qualities of a half-elf. They are still considered 'half-elven', but they can usually pass more easily for a different race if they look and act like them. Half-elves are treated differently in different areas, and if you are considering a half-elven PC it would be wise to check up on the 'human' page and geography of the area you wish to be from. Any half-elf would wish to read the 'human' page, because more often half-elves are brought up like humans from their area.
