Taurok

Taurok’s; more commonly known to the Ritensa people as minotaurs; are large, powerful creatures who are thought to have been created by the great gold wyrm Thadarraxillis as elite guards for his great city of Aurakis.

Physical Description:

The average Taurok stands some 7 feet tall, though some extraordinary specimens have been recorded upwards some 10 feet high. Upon first glance, the tauroks most striking feature is its magnificent set of horns located on either side of its overly-broad skull. The exact shape of the horns varies somewhat between individuals, though they all share one common denominator; all are well suited for brutal melee combat. Tauroks are covered in a coat of fur as well, though the length, color, and pattern of this fur varies between individuals as well.

Taurok Traits:

+6 Strength, +6 Constitution, -2 Intelligence, -2 Wisdom, -2 Charisma: Tauroks are both extremely powerful and resilient beasts, but the great power also instills in them a sense of superiority over smaller creatures which causes them to be seen a harsh brutes. Tauroks also have difficulty determining if a particular enemy is conquerable or not, which has led to the demise of more than a few tauroks.

General:

Tauroks are monstrous humanoids and have 2 levels of monstrous humanoid. This gives them 1d8+8 hit points, +2 attack bonus, and +3 to both Reflex and Will saves.

Large Size:

As Large creatures, tauroks receive a -1 penalty to attacks and AC, as well as a -4 penalty to Hide checks, but also receive a +4 bonus to Grapple checks. Lifting, carrying and dragging capacity is double that of a medium creature.

Natural Cunning:

Tauroks are always exceptionally alert, and as such can never be caught flat-footed.

Space/Reach:

10 feet/10 feet.

Speed:

base land speed for a taurok is 30 feet.

Darkvision:

Tauroks can see in the dark up to 60 feet.

Feats:

Tauroks receive the feat Scent for free (see pg. 314 of the MM). Also, tauroks have receive 1 additional feat from their levels in monstrous humanoid which may be chosen from any feat listed as being a general or taurok feat. Optionally, this feat may be spent on a taurok cultural trait as listed above.

Skills:

As tauroks begin play with 2 level in monstrous humanoid, they automatically receive 10+(int mod. x5) skill points which may be put into the skills Intimidate, Jump, Listen, Search or Spot.

In addition, all tauroks receive a +4 racial bonus to Search, Spot, and Listen.

Native Language:

Thadaric

Bonus Language:

Aldarian (Common)

Other Languages:

Dwarven, Giant, High Draconic and the various elven languages.

Tauroks speak the native language of the many people of Aurakis, as well as the trade tongue of the many Aldarian traders and visitors.

Level Adjustment: +2

In order to counteract some of the hefty bonuses that tauroks receive, players who choose taurok as their race must apply a +2 level adjustment to their character to determine the experience needed for next level. For example, a 5th level taurok fighter (3 levels in fighter and 2 levels in monstrous humanoid) would need to accumulate the total experience points needed to get to 8th level in order to advance to 6th level. In this case the taurok would need to accumulate 28,000 experience to reach their next level.

Favored Class: Fighter

A multi-class tauroks fighter class does not count when determining whether he takes an experience point penalty (see XP for Multi-class Characters, page 60).
