Episode 39: In Sigil, the Faction War winds down not with a bang, but a whimper. Whatever forces were pushing the Factions to fight each other stopped pushing. This is when the Lady of Pain issues her No Faction Edict. The Factols are nowhere to be found anyway, and with a sudden loss of leadership, the Factions simply disband from Sigil and reform on other planes where their influence is strongest. There are rumors of Aoskar returning to life, or a great apocalypse, but obviously, nothing like that comes to pass. Life goes on in Sigil much as it always has, with crises that come and go, and the people to take them on as personal challenges. Meanwhile, on Ysgard, the lillend monitor their Staircase, watching its influence dwindle. Perhaps that is good after all. Chaos belongs to chaos after all. In the Abyss, an alkilith curses its plans gone awry, building a stronger, better Vizard. However, it is not a total loss. He has harvested a dead god, burned for millennia. Who knows what power that could bring? In Cavitus, the alliance of baatezu and archons wait for the Heart. They think in terms of an immortal's lifespan, so a month, a year, a century is nothing to them. And as long as the Heart does not fall into any other hands, then it is the same as if they have it. In Gehenna, a kocrachon of Sung Chiang divines for the location of the Heart, and come up with nothing. It Scrys for the location of its many agents, and come up with nothing. But there are other plans, other solutions.
And so, the talk about the Heart begins to fade into archaic history. The name Aoskar is always on the tip of someone's tongue, but is never uttered. And a grand apocalypse becomes screed. Just another bunch of random rumors that were never proven true.
