>Grav-vaf was born on one of the lesser Vorcarian-
settled worlds: less populous, less prosperous, less
hospitable, less developed. The world's harsh
conditions have proven difficult for the inhabitants
of Sikk-em 2, even for a race as tough and proud as
the People (Vorcarians). The same fierce will to
survive that has served the People well and led them
to become formidable hunters and warriors has served
them on Sikk-em 2 as well. In response to the scarcity
of resources, the People there have become gatherer/
recyclers as well as hunters. Enough of them are
involved in this activity that they've developed a
name for those that specialize in it: Bone-diggers. To
be sure, Bone-diggers aren't the most honored of the
People on Sikk-em 2, and the People from other worlds
actively disdain them. But that matters little to the
Bone-diggers. They know their struggle contributes to
their various tribes' survival and that is all that
truly matters. However, they do tend to be even more
abrasive than the usual Vorcarian.
>Grav-vaf is one of the more accomplished Bone-diggers
of his extended family group, the Clan Ku-joh. He
knows his fierce digging for resources has helped keep
his kin alive, and his efforts have earned him a
measure of respect. That has not yet translated into
success at finding a mate, as warriors can claim
greater glory, but Grav-vaf is a patient hunter, and
he keeps working to gather the scent of glory around
him and to strengthen his Clan. However, his Clan will
be forced to do without his labors now, because one
day he went out on one of his forays and the next
thing he knew, he was waking up inside a stasis tube.
