>Gahvid, a five-legged mammalian species, also possesses five long visual sensory organs tucked in between the protective bone casing of the legs. The Gahvid communicate through a complex form of sign language, adjuncted with slight changes in their skin coloration.
The Gahvid possess no auditory organs, but can sense vibrations from the ground. Nontheless, spoken language and audio cues are foreign concepts to the Gahvid.
They are an extremely xenophobic race, even eschewing translator microbes, fearing contamination from these foreign parasites.
The Gahvid are masters of all things biological. A majority of their technology comes from the manipulation of non-Gahvid genetics; even their computers possess some form of biology.

The Hisser is the primary Gahvid ranged weapon, equivalent to the blaster of Peacekeeper fame. The bladder holds twenty shots worth of a powerful acid that deals 2d6 points of damage.
The range increment is 10m, but can also fire a short burst that consumes three shots worth, but deals 1d6 points damage to all within a 7m cone.
There is no known way to refill the acid bladder without destroying the weapons.

The Spitter spits out a clear fluid that glows in the ultraviolet spectrum, increasing the chance for the Gahvid to find prey.
The bladder holds twenty shots worth of the long-lasting liquid. Gahvid can tell by the luminosity the age of the liquid.
There is no known way to refill the bladder without destroying the device.

The lighttalk unit is a flat screen that displays subtle color changes. These color changes are the digital version of the Gahvid sign language, and thus are a means to communicate with other devices, or transmit information across distances.
Worn like a sleeve, the Gahvid inputs the information with a mathematical base-5 language, and it translates into color changes.

The Gahvid Boarder is their standard five-being fighter. They do not appear to have personal fighters, nor mid-sized combat craft.
The Boarder also serves as a boarding vessel. The hatch also functions as a forced-entry seal. The Gahvid burn a hole with one of their five las-cannons, then seal the breach with the hatch and some form of bio-metallic glue.
The function of the five exterior pods, however, defy analysis. Other races that have fought the Gahvid believe them to be some form of shielding units, but cannot explain the nature or method of the protection.
