The First Steps
Between the years of 1946 and 1965 the computer started to shape. It grew from a 30 ton levithan to a commodity that could be bought and used, albeit to those who could afford it. The computer of this time was something for commercial and military use, very few if any private owners had a computer. We also see the start of the mass-production of the computer. Perhaps the most important development of this time was the silicon transistor, the basis of the modern day computer. Another important development of this time was the Integrated Circuit, or IC, again another basic building block of the modern computer.
