The Early Years

The computer before 1945 could hardly be called a computer by todays terms. The ENIAC (Electrical Numerical Integrator And Computer), invented in 1943. weighed more than 30 tons, had over 18,000 vaccumm tubes, 1,500 relays, and hundreds of thousands of resistors, inductors and capacitors!

After the ENIAC and the EDVAC, the computer really started to grow with the propulsion of WWII. Indeed, the computer may not have came about at all if not for the tremendous technolization following WWII.

Below is a timeline from 3000 B.C. to 1945 A.D., just under 5,000 years time. It is the largest stretch of the Computer Development Timeline.
