A binding spectre is a type of incorporeal undead used to guard things. These beings either were turned into binding spectres as they died, or they were malicious spectres who were transformed into this state. Binding spectres are not evil, usually just sad individuals. They will guard what they are assigned to guard, but they will attempt to reform evil people.
Binding spectres retain/regain their mortal appearance. They can go into battle mode, in which case they use their horrific appearance power.
Special Attacks: As well as any other attacks from class or item, ringwraiths gain the following special attack.
Manifestation (Su): See 3rd Edition Monster Manual, p 212 for details.
Horrific Appearance (Su): See 3rd Edition Monster Manual, p 212 for details. Can be turned on or off as a free action.
Corrupting Gaze (Su): See 3rd Edition Monster Manual, p 212 for details.
Malevolence (Ex): See 3rd Edition Monster Manual, p 212 for details. Can also possess objects, making them act as animated objects.
Death Wail (Ex): See 3rd Edition Monster Manual, p 212 for details.
Binding Chains (Ex): Any creature struck by a binding spectre's chain is considered caught in lieu of suffering damage. A trapped victim's movement is impaired, reducing it by one half for each chain, resulting in a -2 penalty to all attack rolls and skill checks for each chain/wrapping. A caught person may free themselves by succeeding a Strength check (DC 20) per chain. This attempt is a partial action. These chains can grab incorporeal creatures as if they weren't incorporeal, and while held they lose their incorporeal quality (thus can be attacked by others) until they are freed.
Special Qualities: Along with any others, ringwraiths receive the following special qualities.
Rejuvenation (Su): See MM, p. 213.
Turn Resistance (Ex): +4 turn resistance.
