Dark Alliance (D&D Campaign)

All was well in the world, until two ancient powers allied together in a push to conquer all Toril. Now, a small band of heroes must go and fight against this horror, as armies of living and dead soldiers, armed with ancient magic, march inexobably toward their goal. So far, the skirmishes have gone in favor of the Dark Alliance, as the smoking ruins of once mighty Thay attest to, but those who oppose them are seeking an army and power of their own, and with luck, they may yet have time to save us all from the irongrip oppression that will soon be upon us.

Strah'kar- a mysterious, but powerful wizard, he seems to disappear at the wors possible moments and be gone for days on end, and each time he comse back, he looks more and more "strange".

The Villains
Larloch- an ancient, powerful, and undeniably insane lich, this wizard has existed since the days of old Netheril, and up till now been content to leave everyone alone. Though not doing anything directly, Larloch is supplying Telamont with undead soldiers and supplimental magical equipment. If he could be persuaded to find something better to do though...
High Prince Telamont Tanthul- another survivor of Netheril and leader of the mysterious Shade Enclave, Telamont is now making his move to reconquer the former territory of Netheril, and then extend it out to much of the rest of the Faerunian continent. He believes that he is the just ruler of all the land, and will not accept anyone else's interpretation of it. Now aligned with Larloch, the Sorcerer King, his magic and knowledge are twice what they were, and he has a powerful army of undead to combine with his already substantial standing army of Shadovar.
Szass Tam- once thought to be the evil person most likely to take over the world, Szass Tam is no one of the only survivors of the Thayan Purge, one of the first offensives launched by the Dark Alliance. He has been imprisoned by Telamont, and kept around only because he may be useful yet. If he could be found and freed, he may yet prove to instead be helpful to those who work to free him...
The Zhentarim- not just the good people of Faerun are displeased with the Dark Alliance's move for power; several other evil organizations had their own plans for that, and don't intend to allow the Dark Alliance to move unimpeded into their limelight. One of the strongest oppositions of the Dark Alliance is the Zhentarim, led by Fzoul Chembryl, the Chosen of Bane. If not for their efforts, the Dark Alliance would already hold a great deal more power.
