A criminal from an apocalyptic future, Fitzory escaped to the present time. There, he became involved with a group known as the Upstarts, a group of people who killed for points. As part of this 'game', Fitzroy unleashed Sentinels and killed most of the Hellions and put their leader, Emma Frost, into a coma.
Fitzroy is a mutant, and one with a very great power. By draining the bio-energy of another, he can open time portals, and travel through time at will, as well as to other places. He is one of only two known mutants with this power, the other being Sanctuary, the mutant daughter of Dr. Bolivar Trask. If he is pressed for time or energy, he can also choose to travel TO the Axis of Time, and use its vast powers to exit time anywhere, but this place is dangerous, and Fitzroy avoids it when possible. He substitutes his lack of offensive mutant ability with his knowledge of what's still to happen, along with his future-forged powered armor; a suit capable of generating chronoblasts, protective force fields, and even allowing the futuristic thief to fly at speeds nearing the sound barrier.
A cop from Fitzroy's future, Bishop, came to the present and went after Fitzroy, eventually killing the criminal. Bishop would remain in the present and join the X-Men.
