Imbedded Cyberarcana: This is the source of Galen's power. As a technomage, Galen knows how to use science to create sorcery. He and his brothers don't necessarily believe that they perform "magick", but they do; they just explain it a different way. This device facilitates its use, and takes the form of a large, green crystal and metal ring, almost appearing as a crystalline cyst in his back. Along his arms, and in certain spots on his torso and arms, Galen has connection ports to link with various machines, and various parts of his skin have what look like tattoos or burn scars, in patterns that resemble microchips and circuit boards. Many of these have just such under the skin. Of note, this device is vulnerable to hacking, though less so now than in the past, and at least one computer virus has wreaked havoc with it, only being fixed by using a "backup" of its data. Without this, Galen cannot use his magical actions. |

One of the acts Galen has done is the creation of a technological "farmiliar". This spider-like device often sits attached to Galen's arm, and acts as a second pair of eyes, or a distant ear.

Galen is my personal character in a game of MURPG. He is a technomage, a member of a secret order that use magic through technology, sort of like the Technocracy in Mage: the Ascension. Outwardly, he is both superhero and citizen. His day job is running a repair shop, where he repairs and works on computers, as a member of Sanderson Unlimited. When trouble calls, he also goes out and fights evil, an unusual pastime for one of his organization. He works predominantly with a mutant performer named Poltergeist, but has worked with such names as Spider-Man, Iron Man, and others, as well as S.H.I.E.L.D. (he even introduced a magic-powered virus that destroyed all traces of his physical appearance while he assisted them, from all of their computers, as his appearance brings up questions he won't answer). In other worlds, he has met himself, destroyed Carnage permanently, and freed the world from a tyrant's iron-fisted rule. In this one, he has effortlessly captured Venom, to the point that Venom feared escaping Riker's, threatened Mysterio with the destruction of his holographic programs, and even faked an intergalactic cockroach into believing he summoned an energy demon (it was truthfully an illusion that he focused an attack spell through), but the bug was drunk, as it was robbing the liquor store.
Galen has three appearances of note. There is Galen, the Technomage, wearing a hooded robe that hides most of his features. There is Galen in combat mode, where his power armor activates, and he looks something akin to Darkhawk. There is Galen of Cyberspace, where his avatar looks like his head, inside his hood. From a line under his nose up, his face is swathed in darkness, and scrolling Matrix code moves in this region. His eyes glow light blue from within. What few ever see is Galen without his robes. Under his clothes, Galen has cybernetics running over much of his body, with access ports dotting various spots. Areas of his skin have what look like burn marks, in the patterns of microchips (see the Guild mark of the Artificers in Wraith: the Oblivion). On the rare occasion he has been seen thus, Galen used a magic computer virus to delete S.H.I.E.L.D.'s data files of said images, everywhere.
Galen is also accompanied by his tech-familiar, Gizmo. Gizmo looks like a spider or insect-like robot, that often covers most of Galen's arm between his wrist and elbow.
TECHNOMAGIC - WHAT IS IT?
Normally, Galen's response would be "I cannot tell you", but truthfully, here is how technomagic works. Basically, there is a dimension or place where thought gives form to reality, but the "average" mind cannot focus minutely enough, is too cluttered with stray thoughts, uncertainties, and such, to actually forge anything meaningful out of it. Scarlet Witch, for example, often has to go for things that are outrageous, just because they leave less space for "unintended" side effects. Technomages tap the same source, but they apply complex equations, literal computer programs, to the situation, and these algorithms cover many of the variables and uncertainties of the source, thus creating a viable, dependable result. The drawback is that without their cyberarcana, technomages cannot perform any magic; while they do practice sorcery, their lack of belief in its ability without their "props" makes them unable to do so without their technology, much like a M:tA Technocrat believes he just built a better device, rather than a magic-hurling one. While technomages are not so vehemently against magick as a Technocrat, they do not believe that what they perform is such; but merely the application of High Science to an energy source that can, when properly shaped, create a desired result. Through careful use of these devices, as well as some subtle illusions, here and there, a technomage can literally create some very powerful effects, but they are often vulnerable to things the average Sorcerer is not, such as hacking Technology-based attacks, and electromagnetic pulses. On the plus side, as technomages will have scores in Technology and Inventing, they can resist some of these vulnerabilities, and devise equipment that can supplement the casting restrictions of their magic. As for effects, basically just use the Sorcery Action, but with a different name, and if a Technomage cannot explain a detailed excuse for how an effect works, they cannot do it. For example, Galen has defeated Venom with a sonic pulse, but when asked where the pulse originated, I needed an answer. The one given, and accepted, was that I amplified the already present sound of his own heartbeat, and when it became loud enough, Venom took damage, and lost consciousness.
GALEN'S INVENTIONS
The following comprises a list of the various technoarcanic devices Galen has constructed over the course of the game I am playing him in, as well as a few "mundane" devices, and things he is still working on, or that are in the planning stages. Just because that campaign doesn't see them finished doesn't mean he can't eventually finish them, right? Some are included above, showing that they are finished, while others, likely noted here, are not, and will be updated as they become so.
