My 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons Creatures

Undead Dragon Slayer (Template)

Among those who fight dragons, some hate them so much that they become true dragon slayers, and among these there are some whose hate is so strong that even when they finally die they refuse to stay that way, rising again as undead dragon slayers.

Undead dragon slayers appear as rotting skeletons clad in the armor of the dragon slayer, and are armed with the weapons of the profession. Their eyes glow red and they speak with the voice of the grave.

Undead Dragon Slayers speak Common plus any other languages they knew in life.

Creating an Undead Dragon Slayer

"Undead Dragon Slayer" is a template that can be added to any character (referred to hereafter as the "base creature"), provided it possesses 6+ levels of the dragon slayer or slayer mage prestige classes. Following the transformation, the creature's type changes to "Undead". It uses all the character's statistics and special abilities except as noted here.

Hit Dice: Become d12.
Speed: Same as base creature's
AC: Gains a +4 natural armor bonus.
Damage: Same as base creature's.
Special Attacks: An undead dragon slayer retains all the base creature's special attacks but gains no new ones from this template.

Special Qualities: An undead dragon slayer retains all the base creature's special qualities and those listed below, also gaining the undead type.
__Fuel Supply(Ex): Whether created by spell or will, the undead dragon slayer is not self-sufficient. When first created, the slayer possesses 10 energy levels, which disappear at the rate of 1/month. Before this energy runs out, the undead dragon slayer must kill a dragon. For each age catergory the dragon had, the slayer receives one energy level. There is no maximum to the number of these levels an undead dragon slayer may have. Should an undead dragon slayer run out of hit points, they spend an energy level to restock their hit points. They then roll percentile dice to see how much of their hit points they regain. Should they run out of levels, they fall dormant, probably gone forever.
__Immunities (Ex): Because they lack flesh or internal organs, they take only half damage from piercing or slashing weapons.
__Damage Reduction (Ex): People who choose to fight dragons are going to have to be durable, and the transformation into undeath only enhances this. Thus, undead dragon slayers possess DR 25/+3.
__Turning Immunity (Ex): Undead dragon slayers cannot be turned or destroyed by paladins or good clerics, though they can be rebuked and controlled by evil clerics. A holy word spell will drive them away however.

Saves: Same as base creature's.
Abilities: Undead dragon slayers receive a +4 to Strength, but, being undead, they have no Constitution score.
Skills: An undead dragon slayer receives a +8 racial bonus to Listen, Search, Sense Motive, and Spot checks. Otherwise, its skills are the same as the base creature's.
Feats: Same as base creature's.
Climate/Terrain: Any
Organization: Solitary
Challenge Rating: Same as base creature's +2
Treasure: Standard coins; standard goods; double items.
Alignment: As base creature.
Advancement: Undead dragon slayers can keep advancing as they did in life. If the massive experience points earned from periodically knocking off Wyrm-level dragons could not be spent, then this would trully suck.

Undead Dragon Slayer Characters
First, admission to the dragon slayer or dragon slayer mage prestige classes must be purchsed up to 6th level. Unlike their living counterparts, undead dragon slayers are on a limited timeline, so they will not take a breather in between kills to live life a bit. For them, the hunting of dragons trully becomes an obsession. On the plus side, however, killing old dragons does bring an undead dragon slayer a great deal of wealth, so that he may either fund an expedition or buy special gear. Some of the nonevil slayers even donate the wealth to towns and villages that have been ravaged by the dragons they kill.

Undead Dragon Slayer Mages
The template used for the arcane slayers of dragons is the same as those who use the sword. The only differences are aesthetic, such as that they continue to wear their robes of dragonscale hide. They look the same, sound the same, and act the same as the standard slayers in undeath.
