3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons Style Xel'Naga

Xel'Naga

The Xel'Naga are an ancient and powerful race, though they are on the decline. They created the Protoss and the Zerg, and for their trouble were almost completely wiped out by the Swarm. One Worldship managed to use all of its crews combined psychic power to mask it from the Overmind and its Overlords, and then warp travel to a galaxy so far away that even in a million lifetimes the Zerg could not reach. There, they began to rebuild and enhance their psychic and technological might. However, over the milennia since their departure, their bodies have become frail, and so their essences were stored in crystals; only a few of the most powerful have staved off milennia and remained in their real bodies. Now that the Overmind is destroyed, and the Protoss are in shambles, the Xel'Naga can complete their master-plan; the fusion of the Zerg and the Protoss. Once the Hybrid is completed, the Xel'Naga will have virtually perfect bodies place their survivors spirits in, and then they will be as near perfect as possible. However, the aforementioned fact that the Overmind is no more is no longer accurate. It has returned yet again, but has yet to realize that its very makers are back in this universe.

Most Xel'Naga in general look the same. They look superficially like the Protoss, roughly 6 to 6 1/2 feet tall, very thin, and rather alien in appearance. Their hands are like ours, while their legs are built somewhat insect-like. They do not have braided nerve fibers for their psychic power, making due without them. They have scaly-type skin that is sort of a sandy tan color, and their eyes glow various colors. They do have mouths.

Info Regarding All Xel'Naga: All Xel'Naga units and buildings have the following traits, if applicable:

Psionic: all Xel'Naga have the psionic creature template added to them, as all protoss share the latent power of psionics. This will be in addition to the protoss's character class.

Telepathy: All Xel'Naga have telepathy. They can speak with any creature that has intelligence in this manner. Its range is 1000 feet.

Shields: All Xel'Naga characters and structures are protected by psychic shields. This effect works like a stoneskin spell, except that it is permanent, psionic, and equals the character's or building's full hit point total. This effect can be temporarily negated with psionic powers, such as negate psionics or null psionics field. Otherwise, the opponent must deplete the shield before physical attacks can harm the character or structure. This shield recharges at a rate of 1 point/round.

Type Specifics: Other than all the above, which all Xel'Naga have, the following are special of the individual units. They are as follows:

Zealot- Effective Full Plate, Psionic Blades (considered +2 modified brilliant energy wrist-mounted long katars). All zealots are psychic warriors.

Dragoon- considered intelligent construct (substitutes Cha bonus for Con bonus in regard to powers), Energy Cannon (considered +2 modified brilliant energy masterwork composite longbow, on a critical hit, target is affected with disintegrate). All dragoons were once zealots, and so are psychic warriors.

Farseer- Robe of the Farseer (see Eldrad), Warp Blast (See Zerg Overlord), Psionic Storm (identical to arch-psion psionic energy discharge, only with a 10 ft radius blast range), Heal (psionic variant, identical to the cure serious wounds spell, costs 10 PPP's), Recall (psionic variant, of combined teleport without error and plane shift spell, costs 50 PPPs). All farseers are psions of the Seer subclass.

Mindwarrior- Effective Full Plate, Robe of the Templar (), Psionic Blades (considered +4 modified brilliant energy wrist-mounted long katars), Cloak (incarnated improved invisibility, can be negated temporarily, but resumes once negation ceases; cannot be permanently negated). All mindwarriors are psychic warrior or psion/psychic warrior dual classers.

War Wizard- Permanent mage armor effect, Psionic Shockwave (identical to arch-psion psionic energy discharge). All war wizards are sorcerers or wizards, but are required to take the War Wizard prestige class as soon as possible (Wiz7 or Sor8), and cannot increase level outside of War Wizard until it is finished.

Farcaster- Permanent mage armor effect, Mind Control (same as the psionic power thrall, except that no force save another dark archon can break it, ever. This power drains all of PPP's and shields, which must then recharge), no attack capability. Similar to archons above, all dark archons are made by uniting two dark templar, usually near death, together. This union destroys their character class traits, minus their PPP's, and converts their Hit Dice to d12. They do, however, maintain their psionic creature template.

High Archon- Permanent mage armor effect, Psionic Shockwave (identical to Psionic Storm, but twice as powerful, plus no radius). Mind Control (same as the psionic power thrall, except that no force save another dark archon can break it, ever. This power drains all of PPP's and shields, which must then recharge). All high archons are made by uniting one high templar and one dark templar, usually near death, together. This union does not destroy their character class traits, though it converts HD to d12.

Reaver- Effective Full Plate, Psionic Blades (considered +2 modified brilliant energy wrist-mounted long katars). All zealots are psychic warriors.

Observer- Effective Full Plate, Psionic Blades (considered +2 modified brilliant energy wrist-mounted long katars). All zealots are psychic warriors.

Air units and structures to follow later.

After reading the above, here are the descriptions of what each type is.

Zealot-

Dragoon-

Farseer- The elite of the Xel'Naga, the farseers see into the future and wield psychic powers, just as the high templar do.

Mindwarrior- The lower caste of the Xel'Naga, the Mindwrriors are the ones who wield their psionic power to augment their combat, rather than to directly combat.

War Wizard- All the Xel'Naga are psionically empowered, butnot all choose to devote their lives to the perfection of their minds. Those who don't often become war wizards, people who use magic rather than psionics. They are primarily used for troop support and the manufacturing of magical items. All war wizards must take Enlarge Spell, Widen Spell, and Martial Weapon Proficiency before 7th level (if wizards) or 8th-level (if sorcerers) and upon passing the aforementioned levels, take and complete the War Wizard prestige class.

Farcaster- Much like the archon, the Xel'Naga

High Archon-
