Most Atha’an Miere are born and raised on ships, however they also control the strange string of islands to the south of the Sea of Storm. Along with the Amayar, they people these bright, warm islands. The Amayar are the makers of the fine ‘Sea Folk porcelain’ which is so popular on the mainland. Not much is known about these strange lands. Most Atha’an Miere dislike being on dry land, and claim their place of origin as the ship they were born and raised on.
Sea Folk Society
The Atha’an Miere are organized into clans, each of which controls their own ships, harbors and trade routes. The clan is lead by a Wavemistress, one of whom is chosen to become the Mistress of the Ships. A Sailmistress, who appoints a Windfinder and Cargomaster, heads the individual ships. The rest of the crew is organized according to rank that is based on experience and birth among other factors.
