Catalyst

Author's Note: I didn't like it when I finished it, but it's growing on me. Written for Aishuu's 100-word, Moment of Truth Challenge, it was originally titled "Snow," but snow has nothing to do with the story, other than it happens to be snowing. So I renamed it "Catalyst." And now I'll shut up.

Disclaimer: Gouhou Drug and all characters therein belong to CLAMP.

Rikuou had been standing in the cold for too long. He could feel his fingers going numb underneath his gloves.

He wasn't sure why he was standing there, why he hadn't walked away. There was nothing special about the thin boy kneeling on the frozen pavement.

Just another homeless teenager in another winter.

He watched as the other boy fell to the pavement again, underneath the unnatural lights of a Christmas tree. He watched as he tried to rise again.

He moved forward. Perhaps there was something special about the boy.

Perhaps Kakei hadn't sent him out to fetch milk.
