Shopping with Renji

Yanagi Renji eyed the object in his hands critically.  The color was certainly right...a very dark blue, almost midnight, that would make Seiichi's skin look even paler in comparison.  And it was certainly a very attractive item.  Rikkai's captain would look gorgeous in it.

But lace was itchy, so he'd heard.

"You aren't seriously considering buying that for Yukimura, are you?"

Renji turned his head and smiled at his best friend.  This was their third trip lingerie shopping together, and Genichirou had finally stopped looking at the displays as if they were going to jump up and bite him.

He was so proud

Sanada had suggested this trip himself, something that was quite unexpected, considering how much this kind of shopping embarrassed him.

That only meant that he'd probably managed to utterly destroy something the night before, thought Renji.  And Atobe Keigo had demanded that his boyfriend replace it.

Yanagi Renji had awesome powers of deduction.

"Why not?" he finally asked, smiling benignly at the other tennis player.  "It's certainly his color."

Sanada blushed bright red, tugging his baseball cap down over his eyes.  "There's nothing to it!" he said.

Renji blinked at Rikkai's vice-captain.  "Well, that would be the point, Genichirou."  Honestly, the other boy did this every single time.  One would have thought that, by now, he would have realized that Yukimura Seiichi was not a shrinking violet.

But apparently not.

Renji sighed.  There was just no reasoning with Sanada in this case.

"Atobe prefers silk," he said.  "And the silk display is over there," he added, pointing his finger in the appropriate direction.

"Fine," said Sanada.  Then he paused.  Something wasnÕt quite right.  "How do you know what Keigo prefers?"

Renji lifted his eyebrows as he folded the scrap of blue lace, and picked up another item.  "Genichirou," he said pointedly.  "You were the one who told me to find out everything about Atobe Keigo."

"You didn't tell me that," returned Sanada with narrowed eyes.

There was just something so... wrong about his best friend knowing his boyfriend's taste in under things.

"I thought you might like to be surprised," Renji said.  He gave the garment in his hands a once-over, before extending it to Sanada.  "Atobe might like this," he said.  "I'd get it for Seiichi, but purple isn't really his color."

Sanada blushed again.  "He, ah, wants red this time," he managed to strangle out.

"Ah, I see," Renji shrugged and placed the aforementioned underwear back on the display table,  "You should get looking, then.  We have other shopping to do today."

Genichirou was so fun to tease, he thought.  And undoubtedly the next stop would create even more interesting reactions.  Renji doubted that Sanada had ever had the occasion to shop for body glitter.

The thought brought a small, satisfied smirk to his face.  Oh yes, he thought.  Seiichi was giving him a very nice birthday gift this year.  Very nice.

He might have to open it early.
