I Miss Philippines
I haven't visited in almost 11 years, half my age. And if I keep missing work, then I might not be able to this year, again. Up yours TZ!

Anyway, while I'm away from my homeland, I might as well learn a few things about it.

Here's one disappointing fact I found on this link... http://www.cia.gov/cia/publications/factbook/geos/rp.html

It's disappointing to me because some people don't understand that OFWs are not out there to hurt our economy. And it's disappointing to me to understand that we have to rely on our fellow Filipinos who had to leave to protect our economy from financial crises such as the one from 1998.

"The Philippines was less severely affected by the Asian financial crisis of 1998 than its neighbors, aided in part by annual remittances of $6-7 billion from overseas workers."

I wonder what would've happened if OFWs never sent $$$ to their families. Well of course we have some idea, but would we really know?

***Hopefully I remember all of these by the end of June. Incidently, our 'independence day' is June 12, 1898. Bullshit.

Our independence day is suppose to be July 4, 1946. This is when we became 'independent' from US. How come we don't celebrate it on July 4? I mean we were still under another country's regime until then.

Bah, what am I complaining about, it's not like we're totally autarchical now anyway.
