Dr. Edward Franklin

Dr. Franklin is a native Californian. Born in the Bay Area, he lived in southern, northern and central California as a youth. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Animal Science from California State University, Chico and was a vocational agriculture in Oakhurst, and Fresno, CA for 13 years. Dr. Franklin taught agriculture mechanics, forestry, aquaculture and animal & plant science. He received his Master’s of Science Degree in Agriculture Education from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 1998. At that time, he accepted a graduate teaching associate position with Oklahoma State University in Stillwater, OK and began work on his Doctorate.

After completing his degree in May 2000, Dr. Franklin accepted an appointment as Assistant Professor in the Department of Agricultural Education at The University of Arizona in July 2000. He serves as the undergraduate coordinator for AGTM, is coordinator of the New Teacher Induction Program, and assists in the supervision of student teachers.

Dr. Franklin served the California Agriculture Teachers Association as an officer for nine years and was recognized as a “Teacher of Excellence” in 1995. He received the honorary American FFA Degree from the National FFA in 1998.

Dr. Franklin is married to Jennifer and has two children, Megan and Austin. He enjoys coaching his daughter in softball, working with his son on scout activities, and is a big fan of UA sports, especially the UA women’s softball team.
