This website supports an animation that I have created
on the story of White Snake. The images in this website have been taken
from that animation which was made in the Flash 4 and Director 8 programmes.
I first came across the story when I saw it performed as part of a Peking
Opera reportoire. It is based on a Chinese folk tale from the Hangzhou
region. The costumes of the characters in my animation are taken from
Chinese Opera. Hence, like most theatrical costumes the world over,
while they are traditional they are not historically accurate. The music
accompanying the site is from Cantonese Chinese Opera but none of it
is from "White Snake". The riff on the Home page is possibly from "The
Butterfly Lovers". About the Artist My name is Fiona O'Beirne and I
am a practising artist and art teacher. I have exhibited for fifteen
years in Sydney and Melbourne. I work in a number of mediums including
Oils, Pastels, mixed media and computer graphic programmes..
