Reviews of the 9 Song Full Length CD, "Running Only Makes The Fire Worse"

“The title should have been called ‘Heroin Metal For The Apocalypse'. This is some of the most fucked-up and experimental metal I’ve heard in a dog’s age. You know what doesn’t surprise me? They’re from Philadelphia. Philly retains an amazingly broad element of dementia to many of it’s inhabitants’ musical projects, whether it’s from the vast artistic mindset of the city as a whole, the incredible outspokenness of the people of the city, or it’s all the goddamn crack. But this is an excellent example of the City of Brotherly Love and Drive Thru Heroin’s sickening musical underground. Bringing elements of crusty grind metal into fold with the use of violin with Middle Eastern influence and shocking noise vs. jazz structures that are hard to put into words, covering endless amounts of ground within each track. The band is actually only a three piece made up of drums, bass and violins, along with the intermittent death and clean vocals that appear for maybe a third of the album in broken segments. The chaotic mess of music here is not recorded with the best equipment, resulting in a more raw and primal recording, and in general it’s not even safe to dub this as any one thing at all but scary. Let’s put it this way: If you’re into the more dirty and unexplored side of what heavy music has to offer in general, you just hit pay dirt. This album is strange as hell and it will take more than one listen to understand. You might have to be really fucked up to understand it, really. I’m not sure if I totally understand it, but I will be listening to it a lot in the upcoming weeks.” -METAL MANIACS MAGAZINE
“Dark, feedback-induced noise with eerie—yet tasteful--violin stylings. It’s demented “almost but not quite there” no-wave with a twisted, confrontational style like Neurosis. Parts of this record are tight with concentration, but fall apart into jam sessions of pure, noisy chaos.” –PUNK PLANET
“This is an interesting band with a very different sound. A death metal band. An industrial noise band. A cross between the two with a violin. Drums, bass and violin. The vocals range from death metal screams to an operatic theatrical quality. It’s both interesting and well done. It works. And I’m a sucker for a violin, especially within metal or punk. There are times here when this gets a bit abrasive, but then there are times when it totally rocks.” –SLUG AND LETTUCE
"Our buddy Myles and his "Of Destruction" band Tony and Audrey return with their first proper full length. We raved about their first two cd-r's and this one is EVEN BETTER! Just drums, violin and bass, NO GUITARS! MoD whip up a wild and totally unique gypsy-stomp / grind metal / Ruins-ish rhythmic workout with growled gutteral black metal vocals, grinding distorted bass and wildy melodic violin. In the past we compared MoD to a mix of the Warlock Pinchers, Atom And His Package, Metallica, Emperor, and the Magnetic Fields. We also compared them to a more metal Amps For Christ, but as their sound progresses and they get tighter and better, their sound veers in a much more folky/gypsy direction, due mostly to the amazing violin parts, and the humor seems to have taken a back seat to the music, which is a GOOD thing. Think: a black metal Taraf De Haidouks, or Samla Mammas Manna playing selections from the Brutal Truth catalog! Really fucking great!"

"Mix a batch of some hardcore punk cruster rock with some Middle Eastern sounding violins and you get the unique sound that makes of Myles of Destruction...the bands sound is as intense as the description I just laid out for you. Assaulting your brain with a sick breed of sounds fit for a David Lynch soundtrack, Myles of Destruction obviously got sick of the run of the mill rock acts out there and decided to take a crack at it from a different perspective. Mixing up almost tribal sounding drums at times with creepy violins, hardcore over the top vocals, there is something around every corner of every song that keeps you very interested in what is going to happen next. The bass is pounding and sets the pace and the rhythm section is 100% charged with energy the whole time. It`s definitely in that same pocket with Am-Rep noise bands, but with a more twisted unique sound than anything I have ever heard put out by that label. Myles of Destruction is a hard nut to crack that is hard to describe without hearing it yourself. Check it out if you are into something completely different, but remember it`s not for the timid..."

"Imagine the Dog Faced Hermans meets Excruciating Terror. That is what this sounds like. Yes I know I could have said it sounds like a later Slap-A-Ham release, but those sort of lagged and this is actually halfway decent. A surprising release, especially since Myles of Destruction are from Philadelphia."

"What is there left to say about philly's Myles of Destruction? They continually smash all of my expectations and this 9 Song CD only continues this tradition. Eerie and gorgeous violin meets fuzzy dirgy bass and topped with Myles' truly demonic vocals? Amazing and original grind/punk. And they look like such nice people in pictures.."

"Myles of Destruction are a 3piece band out of Philly,Pa. Which are completely original! Sometimes you see bands without a bass player, well Myles of Destruction has no guitar player. Instead they have a Violin player. So there is drums,Violin, bass and vocals. The bass is distorted. The vocals, voices Myles does are pretty cool too. Growls, screams, and a little singing. The first song "Cold Day in Hell" is actually pretty rockin. It's an instrumental track with a real heavy sounding breakdown. There's a total of 9 songs in 28 minutes and forty seconds. The 5th song on the cd "Mourning Sickness" is my favorite. If you are looking for a new band to get into, i suggest Myles of Destruction, very original." -BUSHMADO WEBZINE
