Character
Sheet Help
Below
I have listed step by step instructions for filling out
your character sheet. If you are still having problems after
following these instructions and looking at the VTM (3rd
Edition) book, ask your storyteller to help you. If you
are unable to contact your storyteller ask one of the other
players or methyus (Aedryan Dark).
Follow
these instructions along with the Characturge
Character Creator Help page step by step while
filling out your sheet and you shouldn't have any problems.
The first
thing you must do (After downloading the Characturge Character
Creator from the newsgroup) is decide whether you will be
playing a sabbat character or a camarilla character, cuz
the sabbat character sheet has totally different virtues
and a path rating instead of a humanity rating.
Go ahead
and fill out your name, characters name, (you can just put
PER for chronicle) nature, demeanor, clan, haven and concept.
These can all be found in Chapter 2 - "Character and
Traits" of the VTM 3rd edition book.
STEP 1
Choosing your path
If you
choose to give into the beast and no longer struggle to
cling to your humanity you will choose a path to follow.
(Your MAIN path takes the place of humanity) If this is
what you wish to do, you must select one of the paths from
the "Paths Of Enlightenment" to be your MAIN PATH
(Refer to the Storytellers Guide To The Sabbat book) Essentially
all this means is that you will follow a different "Hierarchy
Of Sins".
STEP 2
* CLICK ON THE "STAGE"
TAB AND MAKE SURE THERE IS A CHECK NEXT TO "INITIAL"
* At this
point you need to open the VTM 3rd Edition book and take
a look at your clans natural disciplines. You will find
these in Chapter 2 - Clans And Sects. Find your clan and
look at their disciplines and take a good look through Chapter
4 - Disciplines at what each of them do. Pay special attention
to their systems, because it tells you what attributes and
abilities you will need to have to use them. Make sure you
try to put some dots next to all the attributes and abilities
you will need before any of the other ones.
Formula's For Creating
Your Character Sheet:
We use the standard
formula's for character sheet creation and the formula's
are as follows:
Attributes - 7/5/3
This means
you may fill in 7 of the dots under Physical, 5 dots under
Social and 3 dots under Mental.
Abilities - 13/9/5
This means
you may fill in 13 of the dots under Talents, 9 dots under
Skills and 5 dots under Knowledge.
STEP 3
Backgrounds - 5
This means
that you may fill in 5 dots in the backgrounds
that you chose for your character
Here are
the basic backgrounds that you can choose to use for your
character. Read the VTM (3rd Edition) book to learn about
what they are.(The cost is only 1 point each at this point)
* There are others
available in the VTM (3rd Edition) and Sabbat books at your
storytellers discretion
Allies
Contacts
Fame
Generation (7th Gen. Max.)
Herd
Influence
Mentor
Resources
Retainers
Status
STEP 4
Virtues - 7
This means
that you may fill in 7 dots in your virtues at 1 point each
STEP 5
* ONCE YOU ARE READY
TO SPEND YOUR INITIAL 15 FREEBIE POINTS CLICK ON THE "STAGE"
TAB AND PUT A CHECK NEXT TO "FREEBIES"
Freebies - 15
This means that you
get 15 freebie points to add anywhere on your sheet you
would like.
Freebie
points MUST be spent by following the "Freebie Point
Cost Chart" when you are spending them. THEY ARE NOT
MERELY SPENT AS 1 POINT EACH! Follow the chart below when
spending your freebies.
* NOTE:
You may want to wait and spend your freebie points AFTER
you select your flaws as described below in the merits and
flaws section.
Willpower - 1
Per Dot (Costs 1 freebie to add 1 dot)
Humanity/Path - 1 Per Dot (Costs 1 freebie to add 1
dot)
Virtue - 2 Per Dot (Costs 2 freebies to add 1 dot)
Ability - 2 Per Dot (Costs 2 freebies to add 1 dot)
Attribute - 5 per dot (Costs 5 freebies to add 1 dot)
Discipline - 7 Per Dot (Costs 7 freebies to add 1 dot) |
Example:
Let's assume that on your character sheet you have 3 dots
next to an attribute and you want to add to it when spending
your freebie points. The freebie point cost for attributes
is 5. This means that it will cost you 5 of your freebie
points to add 1 dot to it.
* YOUR WILLPOWER RATING
IS EQUAL TO YOUR ENDING COURAGE RATING (PLUS ANY FREEBIE
POINTS YOU MAY HAVE SPENT ON RAISING IT) IF YOU ARE A CAMARILLA
CHARACTER OR YOUR MORALE RATING IF YOU ARE PLAYING A SABBAT
CHARACTER!
Merits & Flaws
If you
wish to add some special touches to your character you may
give him/her merits
and flaws. It is optional, but encouraged. If
you select any you must list them on your character sheet
in the appropriate field. List its cost and whether it is
a merit or flaw along with a BRIEF description of what it
does. For example this is how each merit and flaw should
look on your character sheet:
Enchanting
Voice (2pt Merit)
Adds +2 Dice To All Leadership/
Intimidation/speaking type rolls
You may
take up to 7 points worth of flaws for free. This, in turn,
gives you 7 additionaly freebie points, thus giving you
a total of 22 freebie points to spend anywhere you would
like. These can then be spent on merits, attributes, abilities,
backgrounds, virtues, willpower or whatever. If you only
take 4 points worth of flaws, then you only get 4 extra
freebies (19 Total), if you take 2 points worth of flaws,
then you only receive 2 extra freebies (17 Total), etc.
* NOTE:
We have put a limit of 8 dots maximum on willpower.
The merits
and flaws and how they are purchased can be found in the
VTM (3rd Edition) and The Storytellers Guide To The Sabbat
books as well as here, on the PER site on the "Merits
& Flaws" page.
"Path Disciplines"
Path disciplines
are ENTIRELY different than your "Main Path" and
they can be found in the books. Path disciplines are essentially
special disciplines of research. For example: Hands of Destruction,
Lure of Flames, Movement of the Mind, etc. At the bottom
of your character sheet you will see "Paths".
That is where you put these if you selected any.
Generation/Trait/Max
Rating
By default,
your character is 13th generation. The ONLY way you can
raise it is to take the "Generations" background!
Each dot you purchase with your freebie points lowers it
by one generation. Let's assume that you purchased 3 dots
in generation. YOur character would then be 10th generation.
No matter
what generation of a vampire you are you have a trait/max
rating. This means that can only have a certain amount of
dots in a given trait.
Example:
Aedryan
Dark is a 7th generation vampire, cuz I purchased 6 dots
in the generations background. His trait/max rating is 6.
This means he cannot have any more than 6 dots in a given
trait in terms of attributes, abilities, disciplines, his
main path, discipline paths, backgrounds or virtues. Willpower
and bloodpool are exempt from the max/trait rating. Willpower
can be raised as high as you can raise it by spending freebies
and experience points on it. Your bloodpool is determined
by your generation and thus, has a rating as well. My 7th
generation characters rating is 20/4. This means that he
has a total bloodpool capacity of 20 and he can spend up
to 4 bloodpoints per turn on all physical actions, which
adds 4 extra dice to his dicepool. To figure out your characters
generations/trait/max ratings refer to the chart in the
VTM 3rd Edition book.
NOTE: If you need to
change your generation to 7th gen you will have to click
on the "Change" tab at the top of your character
sheet and select "Generation Override" in order
to change your gen to 7th on your character sheet!
As you raise your generation,
you will notice that more little squares appear beneath
your bloodpool. Once your character sheet is printed out
you MUST use a pencil to put a mark in each of then, cuz
you will be erasing and filling them in constantly in the
game. This goes for the little squares beneath your willpower
rating as well.
NOTE: THE CHARACTURGE
PROGRAM SEEMS TO HAVE A GLITCH IN ADDING THE CORRECT AMOUNT
OF BLOODPOOL FOR 7TH GENERATION VAMPIRES IF YOU USED THE
VAMPIRE ELDER TEMPLATE. SO SIMPLY USE A PEN OR A MARKER
TO ADD ADDITIONAL BOXES AFTER YOU PRINT OUT YOUR SHEET.
(If you are 7th generation you should have 20 little boxes
under your bloodpool)
STEP 6
Select Your Armor
If you
wish to have armor on your character refer to the armor
charts in the VTM (3rd Edition) book. Take note that the
better your armor is, the more you are penalized for all
physical actions due to awkwardness, heaviness, etc. After
you decide which armor your character will wear (if any)
type it in the Equipment/Clothing field of your character
sheet to list its name, its soak level and its dice penalty
system. If you don't take time to do this, you cannot all
the sudden say you have armor on in game. In other words
if you don't put it on your sheet, you don't have armor!
Example of how it should
look on your character sheet:
Class 2 (Armor T -
Shirt) Rating + 2 Soak Penalty - 1
That's about it! Once
you have filled out everything name the file, save it, print
out a copy for yourself and be sure to send your characters
.CGC file to your storyteller.
Show up for the games
and have fun!
