A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 : Freddy's Revenge title

Tag Line : The Man Of Your Dreams Is Back!

A Nightmare on Elm Street Part 2 : Freddy's RevengeFive years on from the first film and Alice's old house has just been bought by the Walsh family. Unfortunately, no sooner do they move in then their teenage son Jesse (Mark Patton), starts having nightmares about a horribly burned character, sporting a glove with razor blades on the fingers. Yes you've guessed it, Freddy's back!

It seems that Freddy (played once more by Robert Englund) is no longer content with killing the Elm Street teenagers in their dreams, and so takes over the body of young Jesse Walsh in order to kill them in reality. At first he thinks he is suffering from really bad nightmares, but when the characters he sees Kruger kill in his dreams turn up dead in reality, he knows he's got major problems.

Amongst some of the more interesting scenes we get to see the sports teacher getting killed in a very dodgy scene set in the school showers, when Freddy turns up and makes the towels spank him to death (Oooohhhh Matron!) Jesse's pet budgie explodes and all his college chums get wiped out when Freddy gate crashes a barbeque party and carves his way through the lot of them.

As I mentioned in my review of part 1, I've never been a fan of Freddy Kruger or the "Elm Street" series, but this has got to rate as being a poor sequel in anybody's book. Whilst the barbeque massacre was kind of interesting, there's nothing else to really recommend it. If your a big fan of the series then you'll probably enjoy this, but don't expect to be bowled over by it, as I would describe the film as mediocre at best.

Overall marks : 4/10.
