Part 132

Sarah floated lazily in the water, her hair fanned out behind her and her eyes closed. Howie stood beside her watching her lovingly as she floated thinking how beautiful she was. He couldn’t help but see the calmness about her and how relaxed she was. Things had been so tense the last few weeks on tour and he had been worried about her. He reached to touch her, to pull her close to him, and she opened her eyes.

"You look so peaceful, Angel."

Standing up into his arms, Sarah wrapped hers around his neck and played with the curls at the back of his neck. "That’s because I am. Don’t get me wrong, D…I LOVE being with you on the road and everything that goes with it…the press, the fans, the long hours, the bus rides…but I was getting tired."

"I know. We all were. AJ’s drinking and partying made everything that much harder. Are you ready to go up to the hut?"

"I guess so. Why do you want to leave here though? You’ve been chomping at the bit to go up there."

Howie grinned and Sarah saw the twinkle in his eyes. "I have a couple surprises for you."

Sarah eyes lit up. "What surprises?"

"You’ll just have to wait and see. Now come on. It’s starting to rain."

The couple headed back to the hut and as they approached, Howie covered her eyes with his hands. He led her into the hut to find it just as he’d requested. Removing his hand, Sarah saw the first of her surprises. The hut was a typical native hut but with tropical flowers everywhere and candles too. In one corner was the sleeping area and in another corner, the kitchen area. It was all very romantic.

Sarah turned to Howie, her eyes wide as saucers. "D?"

Laughing, Howie took her in his arms again. "It’s our get-away from the fishbowl, Angel."

"How long can we stay?"

"Chuck and the guys brought enough food for a couple days. It’s just you and me for the next 48 hours…no fans, no press, no work, no Kevin, no Nick, no Brian, no Becca, no Alex…just you," he kissed her, "me," kissed her again…"the babies," he said as he put his hands on her stomach…"in paradise."

"And my morning sickness." Sarah leaned her head against his chest. "God, I love you, Howie. Thank you."

The two stayed at the hut for the next forty-eight hours; making love, talking, and enjoying the peace and serenity of their setting. It was just what they both needed, time together, not that their relationship was in trouble. In fact, it was stronger than ever but this time just made their bond that much stronger.
