Part 140
The flight to LA was quiet and Sarah curled up next to Howie where she fell asleep easily. While she slept, Howie worked on business, primarily bodyguards for Sarah and Becca. With both of them pregnant, Howie didn’t want to take any chances of either of them getting hurt by over eager fans.
Billy asked, "Howie, why the extra protection now?"
Howie looked down at his sleeping wife. "Billy, I’ve ALWAYS wanted extra…and paid for it. I just want it in our contract. I’ve already mentioned it to Nick and he’s in agreement."
"My suggestion is to keep it the way you have it now. The last time I took it to ‘The Firm’, they laughed at me and said ‘no’."
"I can understand when Sarah and I were dating but we’re married now."
"You can ask but I doubt they’re gonna change their minds. Look, I’ll do a separate contract for Sarah and Becca and give you a discount. Who do you want for Sarah?"
"Doesn’t matter. She’s NOT gonna like it anyway."
Billy laughed, "How about I let Raoul take Sarah and let Tommy take over for you?"
"That works. What about Becca?"
"I’m gonna take her and put Eddie on Nick."
Howie smirked at that. "Becca, huh?"
"Yeah…the only woman I’m scared of!" laughed Billy. "Gotta
hand it to her though, she KNOWS how to handle the blonde wonder. So, what’s
the REAL reason you want extra protection? I mean, I understand Nick’s reason
with Becca being…."
Howie grinned.
"No way! That’s really cool, D! I know you’re excited."
"Keep it to yourself. The guys and our parents know but we don’t want
it public just yet."
"That’s cool. When is she due?"
"End of February…with twins. Look, if anyone asks, you can just tell
them it’s because she’s getting ready to launch her own career."
Howie and Billy went on talking until the plane started to make its final approach. That’s when Howie woke Sarah and they got ready to land.
Kevin was suppose to meet them at the baggage claim area so the couple headed there with Billy and Raoul. The crowd wasn’t too bad and a few fans stopped them for autographs.
It was while Howie was signing autographs that Sarah spotted Kevin entering the baggage claim area. She let Howie know where she was going and rushed over to Kevin.
Sarah practically bowled Kevin over but he managed to catch her in his arms as she threw her arms around him. "Hey, baby!" he laughed kissing her on the cheek as he lifted her in a bear hug.
"God, I’ve missed you, Boo," whispered Sarah.
Setting her down, Kevin held her at arms length to get a good look at her. "Married life seems to suit you. You look fantastic, baby."
Sarah grinned, "It’s the love of a good man."
Howie joined them wrapping his arms around Sarah’s waist from behind as he said, "Hey, Kevin!"
"Yo, D! Good to see you," greeted Kevin. "You must have treated your wife pretty good. She’s absolutely glowing. Then again…so are you!"
"The love of a good woman," said Howie hugging Sarah tighter.
Kevin laughed, "You two are sickening! I didn’t think the two of you could be any more in love than on your wedding day…"
"But?" questioned the couple in unison.
Kevin rolled his eyes. "But I was wrong. You give the same responses and you even answer together."
"Its called LOVE, Kevin," laughed Howie. "You ought to try it sometime."
Sarah eyed Kevin and questioned, "What’s with you, Boo…You seem…different."
"Oh, you’ll find out soon enough. Come on. I closed on my new house here in LA and you two are staying with me. No sense trying to get a hotel."
The three friends said good-bye to Billy and Raoul who were headed back to Orlando until Tuesday when they would meet Howie and Sarah in Baton Rouge. Kevin went by his place first to drop Howie and Sarah’s stuff off and then they headed to the studio. There was a lot of work to be done in the next two days in order to get Sarah ready to open for Aaron.
