Part 153

Late in the afternoon, Nick began to grumble, "I’m starving. What are we gonna do for dinner?"

Sarah and Becca had both fallen asleep so Howie said quietly, "We can order room service."

"Man, I need to get outta this hotel."

Howie nodded towards Becca sleeping peacefully on the couch behind Nick. "We did this so Bec would get some rest."

"I figured as much and I appreciate it. Look, I really need to talk to you."

"Okay…so talk."

"No…alone. I don’t want Bec waking up and hearing what I have to say."

"Wanna go clubbing then?"

"How are we gonna talk with the girls along?"

"I’ll get Sarah to convince Becca that they need to hang out here."

"Won’t Sarah object to you going out without her?"

Howie looked down as he wife slept peacefully with her head on his leg. He brushed her hair back as he said, "She’ll understand."

Sarah started to wake and she rubbed her eyes sleepily. She stretched and sat up looking around.

Howie leaned to her to kiss her and whispered softly, "Hey Sleeping Beauty."

"Hey yourself. What time is it?"

"Time for FOOD!" growled Nick.

"God…you and your stomach," muttered Sarah.

"I’m gonna call room service. What do you want?" asked Howie.

As she slid closer to Howie, Sarah groaned, "God…not room service. Please, D, can’t we go out?"

Howie played with her hair, "Do you really feel up to going out?"

"I’m fine! Just tired of being coped up in this room. WE need fresh air and EXERCISE," she said as she put her hand on her stomach.

"Cool! I vote for pizza and beer!"

"Ewww…." whined Sarah. "Pizza sounds gross! I want seafood."

"You can have seafood any time…you live in Florida for god’s sake."

"And you can have pizza ANY time."

"We’ll do seafood, Angel."

"She ALWAYS gets her way," whined Nick.

"BITE ME, BLONDIE!" said Sarah as she stuck her tongue out at Nick. "You always whine when you don’t get your way. You’re such a baby."

Howie shook his head as the two continued bickering back and forth about dinner while he got up to look through the phonebook to find a place to eat. He was going to try to find something that would satisfy both of them.

As the argument over dinner continued, pillows began to fly. Nick deflected one that hit Becca waking her. "Hey! Would you two children STOP!" growled Becca.

"Now you’ve done it!" smirked Nick.

"ME! It’s YOUR fault."

"What is your problem?" grumbled Becca.

"I want pizza for dinner and Sarah wants seafood and Howie said SHE could have it."

"Oh, grow up, Nick," said Becca as she sat up brushing her hair back. "Learn to compromise."

"How can we compromise with pizza and seafood?" questioned Nick.

"Lobster pizza."

Nick and Sarah looked at each other making faces and said together, "GROSS!"

"It’s really pretty good," said Becca.

Howie laughed, "I’ll have to agree with them, Bec. It does sound kinda gross. I found a place that serves seafood called Dempsey’s. It’s a pub near the college. You two go get ready and come back here," Howie looked at his watch, "in thirty minutes. I’ll call Billy and Raoul to let them know what we’re doing."

"We’ll be here," said Becca as she pushed herself up off the couch.

As Nick stood up, he mumbled, "Sarah ALWAYS gets her way."

"Drop it, Nick," said Howie sternly. "It’s the LEAST you can do since she DID bail your brother out."

Becca reached for Nick’s hand, "Come on, blonde boy. Let me explain what a jerk you’re being."

With Nick and Becca gone, Sarah lay back down putting her hands on her stomach and closing her eyes. Howie looked down at her and smiled. She was so damn beautiful. He sat down beside her and caressed her cheek with his fingertips.

Sarah opened her eyes and smiled, "Thanks for sticking up for me with Nick."

"I’d have done it even if we hadn’t had the argument last night."

Sarah reached to take his hand in hers. "We haven’t had a chance to make up yet. How about we go to dinner then dump them to come back here and make love?"

Howie smiled, "I love the sounds of that but Nick wants to talk to me alone and I suggested we go clubbing. Do you mind?"

Sarah began to pout. "I guess not."

Laughing, Howie said, "Tell you what. I’ll make it up to you."

"How?"

Looking around the room, Howie said, "This can be a REALLY romantic spot with the fireplace. Why don’t we stick around here a couple more days. We’ll turn the AC down REALLY low so that it’s cold in here and then turn on the fireplace and get cozy in front of it. I’ll order us some fresh strawberries, some champagne, chocolate syrup…."

"Sounds good."

"Scoot over," said Howie. Sarah moved to make room for him beside her on the couch. He lay down taking her in his arms and she rested her head on his chest. Playing with her hair, he continued, "We’ll get some really big pillows and blankets and make love there in front of the fireplace."

Sarah sighed dreamily. "Sounds like heaven."

"That’s because it is and I have the most beautiful angel with me."

Howie ran his fingers under Sarah’s chin to lift her face to his. Softly, he kissed her slipping his tongue between her lips to taste her as his hand ran down to her stomach and under her shirt. Sarah let out a soft moan into his mouth as she moved her hand to his waist.

"I love you, Angel," whispered Howie. "We need to get ready for dinner."
